After reading through the Apocalypse rulebook, I've thought about running a Warlord Titan.  Problem: how big is it in 40K scale?  I have considered just slapping two coffee cans on a suitable base and just imagining the rest is there.  Either that or hiring some LARPer to stand in for one *heh*

Any ideas?

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

According to the fluff a Warlord is 100m tall. This is an arbtitrary figure brought out of thin air. It has no bearing on the miniatures.

Your best bet is to compare an Epic Warlord with other Epic items particularly to known tanks and infantry that are in scale and available for 40K. Sca;e up fropm there.

Depending on what Warlord you want to reproduce (there are three Mk's to choose from) you miniatures can vary. If I built a Warlord I would build a beetleback.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

The ForgeWorld Warhound is 10.5 inches tall. A Warlord should be roughly double that, maybe 20-24".

Great photo!

That thing's got to be at least 3-4 feet tall.

Maybe I'll have my nephew stand in, he's good at wrecking things *heh*

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

I hope the FW version of this is that size.

One thing I don't want is them to scale down the size of the titans just for the model's sake.

LordOfSloths, re-read your Apoc, specifically page 124.

There is a scale diagram there. From that diagram, 2.25 to 2.5 times the height of a warhound, depending on where and how you measure. So assuming a Warhound to be 10.5 inches, a Warlord is just over 2 feet approx.

I quickly checked the scale diagrams of the other titans and they match the scale of the Warhound, so I think it's safe to assume that the Warlord isn't a "one off" measurement using a wacky scale. For example, workign back from the Warhound scale diagram in Apoc, I get 12" as the height of a Eldar Revenant, and surprise, surprise, that's the height of the Forgeworld one.

Assuming 25mm = 6 feet then 155 feet / 47 metres for the warlord.

GW manchester in the UK has one made- it'd say its a good 3 feet tall at least- will have to crack out a tapemeasure at somepoint- but it is massive

That's what I came up with too based on the Apoc picture. It's probably the most official measurement we have right now. It may not seem tall enough to some folks, but I printed out a life size image of a Dream Forge Leviathan which were 2 feet tall (and bore "a passing resemblance" to Titans) and believe me, any bigger would be overkill. It's massive!

That's not useful. The Warlord isn't the tallest Titan.

Speaking of Titans, does anyone know where to get stats for the Chaos Warhound? Or is it the same as the imperial version, only chaos-y? Or would the ForgeWorld rules be used?

When building my Warlord Titan I went with the picture in the Apocalypse book and used the Warhound silhouette to calculate the size which using those rules means it should be 24 inches tall. BUT since lost technology and missing STC and just the plain goofiness of the Adeptus Mechanicus Titans could be somewhat taller or shorter. A difference in materials, construction sites even materials for repairing a damaged one means they will all be very individual. Not to mention all the artificers that make these guys unique. I also have seen the photos of the new prototype Reaver Titan again using the Warhound standing next to it in the pictures reveals it to be about 18" tall which leads to a pretty steady size comparison IMO. 10.5 .... 18" .... 24" This seems close enough(Horse shoes/hand grenades) to the original Epic pieces. You can see photos of the Warlord in progress up to being finished at my Photobucket site.

Warlord Titans, oh lord help us. Warhounds and reavers already do enough but warlords??? next you'll want emperor class. Anyway back on topic, I'd say a minimum of 3 feet.

How exactly did you come up with this figure? Is it based on any evidence or did you just pull it out of your head?

On YouTube, there is someone doccumenting their building of a Warlord titan. Blue something or other. I'm at work I can't access YouTube at the moment. I do recall them saying they built theirs 30 inches tall however.

I plan on building one in the new year and 30 inches sounds good to me.

This may help, I found it a while back. All I know is I want to see an apocalypse class titan. Not even play with it, that would be nuts. I just want to see one built to play.
