The current version is a little different, but it needs some remodeling.

Oh I'm not posting for critique, or suggestions, but if you want to go ahead.

is Maugan Ra the only one on foot?

Yes. He's an IC, and hides behind the Falcons. He adds considerable punch to my shooting phase, and most people don't want to assault him--he's killy.

Skimmers don't block LOS.

You can SEE Maugen Ra, but you can't shoot him unless he's the closest unit....which the way I play, usually he is not the closest, Falcons are.

True enough. I misunderstood your intent when you said "hiding behind".

Of course, your opponent can always have them test for target priority.

You can't shoot a IC with target priority. They simply aren't valid targets if there are any other targets that are closer.

I'm intrigued about Maugan Ra. How did he fare in your army? Not being a Marine player, I've never had the ability to field an Assault Cannon, errr, Maugatar. With his IC status, it looks like he can be a decent shooter against almost anything in the game. The rest of the army isn't my style to play, but to each their own.

It seems like the shining spears are a little points heavy, and also maybe drop the spirit stones on the vyper? Also, have you play tested using the fire dragon phoenix lord instead of morgan ra and putting him in one of the falcons?

Maugan Ra doesn't fit into this army. Up to the Lord, it is highly mobile able to take on one enemy flank or reposition quickly.

He is the only HQ that can do what he can do. He adds considerably to the firepower I have, and given his strength in close combat most people stay clear of him.

The army isn't unbeatable by any means, but it's currently unbeaten and semi-retired. I need to rework it a little bit for 2000 points.

Anyway Maugen Ra has always pulled his weight. Nothing else in the game can rend out marines in buildings with no save...not from a yard away and no response possible, anyway.

The spears are quite expensive. They were a custom conversion, and are slated to become a seer council instead of the shining spears. It's just more viable.

The Vypers I have are retired. They just don't do well enough.

I tried both Phoenix Lords inside vehicles and not inside.

Frankly as long as you encircle the enemy with Falcons, you can run the Phoenix Lords around just beyond reach of the enemy and pop shots off. It's much easier with Maugen Ra, but Fuegan makes an excellent counterpart. Sadly, an Autarch with a Fusion Gun is almost as good in shooting; and Fuegan while excellent in assault he just can't match Maugen Ra. I think at 2000 points I'll bring him, as he's quite likely to run into vehicle heavy armies or Land Raiders--things he excels at removing.

I didn't like dumping him into a Falcon with Fire Dragons, as 5 or 6 of them can accomplish what he can so why bring him?

Sure he does. Maugen Ra moves constantly. I usually put him dead center of the board and use him as an area denial tool. There's not much he can't threaten.

There's no need to have a very mobile HQ like a Jetbike Autarch (although I do) since Maugen Ra's range and abilities allow him to mesh well with any Eldar army.

My army might go up a flank, or speed around...but I don't have a assault army so he can follow.

He has a 42" effective range. There's nothing he can't reach out and touch if he wants to, which is what makes him so good in my army.

Agree with your choice of Maugan Ra over Fuegan. Ra has the range to be effective from early in the game even though foot-slogging, but Feugan doesn't. Factor in the additional cost and the choice is clear, at least in this role.

Sadly, the Fuegan model is so very nice.

I have two, one on a bike for a Autarch with Fusion Gun, and the other foot as Fuegan.

If Fuegan had 2 shots he'd be spot on. Or a re-roll to hit with 1 shot...whatever, rolling a '1' means his points are often wasted right when you need them, which sucks donkey.

Well, he used to have two shots. . . . Sigh.

PK said he was too good with 2 shots. I suggested a re-roll, and I swear it was like he'd not thought of it. lol
