I couldn't resist using the FW Cadian rebreather kits, and was a huge fan of Dan Abnett's Double Eagle book, so decided on a drop troop IG list for my next army. While I'm a big believer in fluff, any suggestions to make it more competitive would be welcome.

I'm more of a modeler than a hardcore player, as should be evident with my choice of Inquisitor

Doctrines: Drop Troops, Veterans, Iron Discipline, Special Weapon Squads, Grenadiers

HQ
Senior Officer w/ Power Fist, Plasma Pistol, Refractor Field and Iron Discipline doctrine
Master Vox, Melta-gun and 2 Flamers
2x Heavy Bolter Fire Support Squads
2x Special Weapons Squad w/ 2 Meltas and Demo Charge

Inquisitor Lord w/ Psycannon, Psychic Hood, Emperor's Tarot
2x Heavy Bolter Servitors, Plasma Cannon Servitor, Sage and Mystic

ELITE
Hardened Veterans Squad - Alpha
Vet Sergeant w/ Bolter and Power Weapon
Vox Caster, and 3 Melta-guns

Hardened Veterans Squad - Beta
Vet Sergeant w/ Storm Bolter and Power Weapon
Vox Caster, and 3 Plasma-guns

Eversor Assassin

TROOPS
Infantry Platoon
Command Squad
Junior Officer w/ Storm Bolter and Power Weapon
Lascannon team, Vox-caster and Medic
2x Infantry Squad w/ Vox-caster, Melta-guns, and Missile Launcher teams

Grenadier Squad - Alpha
Vet Sergeant w/ Plasma Pistol and Power Weapon
2 Melta-guns, Vox-caster, and mounted in Chimera (w/ Improved Comms)

Grenadier Squad - Beta
Vet Sergeant w/ Plasma Pistol and Power Weapon
2 Melta-guns, Vox-caster, and mounted in Chimera

FAST ATTACK
2x Drop Sentinels w/ Autocannons and Armored Crew Compartment

The theory is that the Infantry Command Squad, Inquistor Lord, Fire Support Squads and Chimeras hang back with heavy weapons support, while the rest of the army drops in with 2-3 melta/plasma shots in each. Hopefully the Eversor Assassin and HQ squad can fill in some HtH needs and the 2 Grenadier squads in Chimeras can claim table quarters if necessary.

Sorry to not really help with the post, just wanted to say awesome conversion!
More of a modeler myself so will leave the list advice to those who are minded that way.
How did you make the helmet by the way?
I had the idea of making some of my favourite characters from sci-fi and fantasy etc to use as Death Cult assassins, and this is a real inspiration.

first just let me say that your inquisitor looks amazing, and reminds me of the good old days before the new star wars movies.

In terms of advice on your list, you should tell us what parts are must stay and what parts you are willing to change.

Just as an example, your command squad costs way too many points, so I will consider toning it down alot, but I'm not sure if you are using them because you like the models or because you thought it was a good tactical decision.

P.S. I'm also a huge fan of the double eagle book and if I remember correctly Abnett was talking about a sequel which would be released in '09, but I'll have to check my sources on that.

The working title of the Double Eagle sequel is Interceptor City. I'm a pretty huge fan of Double Eagle myself - heck, it was Double Eagle that got me reading the Gaunt's Ghosts novels rather than the other way around.

As far as the list goes, I don't think you've got nearly enough firepower. You've got lots of points tied up into characters and carapace armor. There's no reason to be giving your Sergeants power weapons - they're not good enough in CC for them to be effective. Spend the points on more troops and more heavy weapons.

If you're going to go for an armor light army, then you need more infantry than you have now.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

Thanks for all the suggestions, I appreciate the help.

@Apone - love the icon, glad you like the fig...it's actually just a filed down Khorne Bezerker helmet. One of those random coincidences I noticed while digging through my bitz box. I've been toying with the idea of doing a Star Wars themed army with Tau drones to act as probe droids and count as Inquisitorial henchmen, and using the FW Elysian rebreather helmets for Stormtroopers...but in the end too expensive.

@Twigg - I'd like to keep the Demo Charge Special Weapons Squads, Hardened Veterans and Stormtroopers...and would be willing to get rid of the Inquisitor and Assassins. (I'm using FW pieces so maxing out the infantry will get pricey for me).

@Death by Monkeys - Good call on the power weapons, I want to get rid of the Chimeras for the Grenadiers, but since they can't infiltrate/deep strike, the idea of them footslogging makes me cringe. I'm tempted to switch them to Inquisitorial Stormtroopers, give them Rhinos and use the extra 100 points for a third Infantry Platoon Squad.

if you want to keep a reasonably low infantry count, you are going to have to use tanks. The little addons for guardsmen don't really help because guardsmen are so weak.

I'll go over the list tommorow and make some suggestions
