These were fun, and quite a pleasant surprise to put together after assembling an army of Elysians with a dozen tiny resin parts per infantryman.

More pictures in the gallery.

simple and yet, complicated looking keep it up dude/ette

My reason for not painting so much? DragonForce and the Indestructible album are the siren songs to my ears.....

Your models are awesome and even though I don't really care for malcadors your's looks very nice.
Also does anyone else think that the DKOK commander may have been based on that cadian lord castellan dude? Just noticed the similiarities

Those are terrific, especially on a white background. Great work!

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

You've definitely got a thing for red/black schemes.

As usual, the paint is excellent.

The right front track assembly is a tad off.

What kind of warping/ mould lines did you experience with the Malcador kit?

These are more models of my friends (this tank Commisar was part of a matching set with the "Chaos" one in the Leman Russ thread converted by Insaniak).

These pieces all look really nice, as well... but that commander is one NICE piece of work!

Well, Painter can tell you for sure, if he wants.

For seeing these models in person, though, I'll tell you that it FEELS like a mix of some sort of adhesive (elmers glue or something else) and baking soda or baking powder... possibly chalk dust.

It has a very fine yet gritty feel to it.

I'm curious to know the truth, as well.

Where ever I am...

Hey..nice job man! Iv been waiting for people to start posting pics of painted DKoK, and finally someone did.
I have a question though, and I do believe it was posted previously but I dont think it was answered...how much troubles did you run into with these models? For example, did anything break on you, did you have to be rediculously careful with them and how much mold residue was on them?

When was it cool to not be a Marine?

You pretty much have it, it's a mix of white(elmers) glue and baking soda, with different amounts of water added depending on the consistency I'm looking for. I use a thinner mix when I want to cover a large area, and a thicker mix when I'm going for built up drifts of snow.

Another fun trick is to mix it up thick, then take legs of an unpainted model and push footprints into the snow.

Sorry, I must have missed the earlier question.

After previously working on a large Elysian force, the DKoK infantry were simply a breeze. Fewer parts, so less small breakable things to clean, and there wasn't much mold residue over all. You still have to be a bit more careful than you would need to be with plastic or metal modelers, and I wouldn't recommend them to someone new to the hobby, but if you already know what you are doing as far as model assembly goes, be a little extra careful and you shouldn't have any trouble with these.

The malcador was a bit more like what I've come to expect from forgeworld kits, some nasty large molding leftovers that you have to very carefully remove, and a few of the larger pieces that were so warped they wouldn't go together until they had been softened and straitened with a hair dryer.

All said, not too bad, but there are some tricky areas where you have the opportunity to ruin an expensive kit if you aren't really careful.
