Subject: THE NEW PLASTIC BANEBLADE CONVERSION TO STORMBLADE TREAD

Hello everyone. I just moved this tread over from the Elysian Drop Troops tread. I figured most of you would just want to see this build and not worry about the Elysians. This project was all done with scratch built and cut plastic card. I used parts from the Lemon Russ kit to add some detail work, but most items were from the Baneblade box or scratch built. I spent about 13 hours on everything up to the point of the primed black picture. This may very on your skill of converting. Overall, I think I spent a total of $8.00 for plastic card to build this whole tank out. (not including the price of the Baneblade) Considering the future Forgeworld conversion kit is rumored at around $100.00 US for just the resin, that's a bit higher then my $8.00. Let me know what you guys think, and I'll keep the pictures coming. I should have this whole thing painted by the weekend.

Guys, if you noticed I went with a different look for the plasma canon. I used thin plastic card strips instead of the earlier pictured wire. It just gave it a better look. More pictures coming.

Thank you for showing your work on the Stormblade. The Stormblade is my favourite of the baneblade variants. I think I can tackle the scratchbuild after looking at your project log. Two thumbs up.

Priming is done, and I've already started taping off sections I'll be keeping black. (driver, lasguns, tracks) I should have this baby done in the next day or so. Oh, and if anyone is wondering how I added all those little rivets on the top section of the turret here's the deal. I took the original top section of the baneblade that I added the plastic card too, and used a sharp exacto knife to cut each little dot rivet off. I saved them till the end and put real small drops of glue with a toothpick and then just added them after. Without the rivets, the tank turret would of looked out of place. Let me know your thoughts.

Wow. Cutting of each little rivet then carefully gluing them back on is just the kind of meticulous attention to detail that I like Excellent work.
Oh, and on a side note, I was just playing as steel legion in dawn of war and I have to say that this tank is all kinds of fun. The blast from its cannon is truly epic.

So here is the little bit of painting I was able to finish. The First picture is of the Sand Color I used as my base. I then added just some darker brown dry brushing to give it a weathered look. More to come!

Sweet something of somewhere...
When I asked if you'd mind providing us with a step-by-step in your 'Elysian' thread, I wasn't really sure
what to expect. All I can say is: You sir, are a genius!
I'm really impressed with how the tank turned out! Seeing the work step by step makes it so much easier
to follow. Unless you're planning on copyrighting these, consider your idea respectfully yoinked!
And the rivets...

well, I got almost the whole thing finished. I just need to paint the driver, and matt varnish the whole thing. What do you guys thing. I'm going for a muddy dessert look. Kinda if they just battled it out in a muddy dessert area after a freak rain storm. I would love pointers if you guys have them. Thanks, and I'll have the last of these pics up tomorrow night. The thing should be finished by then.

love it all, except the blue on the barrel. I know it's supposed to be plasma coils or whatever and should be a different colour, but the blue just don't look right somehow. I don't have a solution - a dark green might look a bit better (or even black, if plasma coils come in black?) but actually I don't think it's the colour, maybe it needs to be shaded differently or painted in metallics or something?
Or maybe it's just the photo and it looks great in real life, in which case ignore me...
