It's back! This is your chance to show the rest of Dakka what you're made of!

The Rules are simple.

1.) Abide by the spirit and guidelines of the Challenge presented.
2.) Take a WIP shot of your model before painting. Send your WIP along with your entry.
3.) Paint your model!
4.) Take another shot of the completed model and send it in to dakkapaintingchallenge@dakkadakka.com with your Dakka Handle as the photo's filename. Also be sure to include your dakka handle in the email, just in case. Oh and be sure it's in before Midnight Central (GMT-6:00) the night of the Deadline!!
5.) The day after the deadline, all the entries will be presented for all of Dakka to see! Along with this will be a poll for the community at large to pick their favorite from the bunch.
6.) Voting will last for 4 Days. At the end of the voting, the one with the most votes in the poll, Wins!!

Notes:
The model you enter can not be shown on Dakka or any other website, it's specifically for release in the Voting Poll. Models found to be posted prior to the Voting Poll will be disqualified. This does not claiming publishing rights. Once the voting is over, feel free to post your model all over the web ^_^!

Please only send one WIP shot with your entry. If you decide to send more than one final painted shot, I will pick the best of them and post it alone. You may create a collage for the model to show detail (back, front, close ups, etc.) and send it as your entry.

Images:

Pics of your model may be either 800x600 pixels or 600x800 pixels . The voting is done blind, that way favoritism has nothing to do with who wins. No text, watermarks, or icons on the entry at all. File Names will be changed after I receive them.

The Prize:
The Winner Recieves: Dakka Bragging rights, A Dakka front page announcement of your glorious victory, the respect from your fellow modelers, and a 12 set of the hot new Dakka Dice! Check out the attached photo to see em!

Da Challenge
Oi! Whose Da Best!?
This challenges theme is all 'bout those big baddies that we love so much. Pick yer fav Ork, Orc, Troll, Ogre, Ogryn, Barbarian or other big, mean and nasty model, and give 'im some paint!

Da Deadline: March 31st, 2008

Da Rules:

Model must be a Single model.

Based on a single square or round base. 25mm up to 40mm accepted.

If you have ANY questions regarding the competition, please feel free to ask here or email DakkaPaintingChallenge@dakkadakka.com !!

Happy Painting!

since you going for big, mean and nasty, I take it that means that CSM are ruled out....

I fixed the email address in the original post.

As for entering a CSM, you are pretty much free to enter whatever model you want (on a 25 or 40mm base, of course) its just that people will be asked to vote based on the theme so if you don't go with a hulking muscle-bound big guy you probably won't win (although you never know).

do you need to send the WIP shot before, or just the WIP and final shot all together before the deadline?

Up to the painter really. If you feel like you want to send it now, feel free. Otherwise just send it with your final photo.

I've yet to even pick out my model x.x. Hopefully I can pick one out before it's into crunch time like last time x.x...

I bought mine today (nothing good in my bitz box, ah well). I hope that by publicly posting here that I'll pressure myself into actually finishing it! Off to clean and assemble it now...

Same here.

If everyone who is planning to enter the Challenge could give me a heads up here, a simple "I'm in!" would suffice, I can be better prepared for for the end of the month ^_^.

I'd submit my hill I'm working on but a 24" x 24" base likely doesn't qualify.

gl to everyone, those dice are cool. I'd paint up my carnivean if I had the skillz.

edit: I guess a Carnivean isn't in the spirit of the contest, not to mention the base is too big. ah wells.

... plus a smattering of on the side.

I am shopping around for Rogue Trader era Eldar support vehicles and units. Those Wraithguard/ Wraithlord drones, specifically.

As they say in the marines ... "Gogogo!"

Unfortunately I can't get in this one, because I am preparing for an RTT this month. Are you all planning on doing this every month or every other month or so?

The plan is to run one about every four months or so. And it'll be a new theme every go so if you can't do it this time around, or maybe the theme doesn't fit anything you're building or an army you've got right now, the next theme might be your chance to get in on the action ^_^.

BTW, finally found my piece. Oh it is SO on!

Heh. I wonder how big, ugly and mean I can make a model of "Try Again" Bragg. Probably not intimidating enough...I'll probably sit this one out.

Sounds like fun. Are non-GW models allowed?

Of course!

The last winning model was from Privateer Press but you can use a model from any maker or even create one yourself if you are so inclined.

I'm so in!

Have been waiting a year for the local GW to run theirs and they didn't, switched to a conversion one and altered the deadline on the day so by the time i got in after work they'd packed up and gone!

Good luck everyone!

Hi, I'd like to ask for clarification on 'single model'

can this be a single model as in rider + mount and if so does the rider have to be sat on the mount or can it be stood by the side, and does a model with a 'pet' mounted on the same base count as a single model? just want to check before I go spending money whether it would be disqualified for being two models on one base. Also are scenic bases accepted or should the base be 'plain' - sand and static grass?

Thanks.

I'm going to say, if you can fit it on a 40mm round or square, it's good. Scenic bases are definitely accepted, but again, 40mm or smaller.
