Heres some more of my marine chapter, the Burning Fists.

First two are Tactical Squads. Note the matching chest pieces and honor badges within each squad. All squads are led by a Vet Serge, who will have taken his own personal icon, which is then spread thru the squad and marks their personal transport (no shell game here). The power fist is their symbol of rank, and is the name sake of the chapter.

Third is a Chaplain and Command Squad. Used to be a vet squad, but I liked the Chaplain rules when the current codex came out, and he was promoted. I've never gotten his sword replaced with a crozius yet however. The cloak was a gift from a Space Wolf he battled along side of in one campaign and he took the white wolf as his afore mentioned icon.

Next up is a squad of Assault Marines, slightly damaged. The wings are from Void, and if I had thought to take a rear shot of one, I melded a marine backpack into the back of em rather nicely, so they still fit with the rest of the army. Why wings? You'll see the significance of those in a minute here.

Two generic Librarians, the terminator I never finished painting. Because psykers are discovered earlier on and trained separately they do not go up thru the normal system of ranks, and thus do not have the power fist. They have their force weapon instead to show their status.

The joint leaders of the Burning Fists, The Angel of Flames and Aduro Terrarum. My chapter is not lead by Captains or Masters, but instead by their Librarians and Chaplains. The Angel is the chief Librarian, and assumes the role as the avatar of their personal god, while Aduro is the high priest. Note the wings are not some kind of mutation, they're a highly advanced system of anti-grav, not unlike Swooping Hawks, and are a part of his suit of armor.

Various other WIP projects include a plasma gun tac squad using the Black Templars bits, a Techmarine plus tac squad bodyguard base with the Iron Hands bits, a command squad from Dark Angels bits and various Razorbacks to go with em. The theme of individualized squads is nice because it allows me to use all the cool bits from the other chapters.

Interesting fluff, and well thought out backstory. Pretty good painting although highlights and such seem very subdued. Camera?

Also, please base the rest of them. It will bring the army together much more, and get a LOT of people to stop cringing when they see your army.

Back on the path of the Imperial Citizen

Still rolling ones...

awesome story line. very well thought out.

I only have one critique and that's to become familiar with inks and washes. the amount of detail that inks and washes will bring out in your models is huge..

Been working on learning the techniques of inking as I work on my new Eldar army. As far as highlighting on these guys, there is none other than some dry brushing on the robes and cloaks. The high gloss finish tends to let the light highlight themselves.

And for the story, there's actually allot more to it (that serg in the second pic ain't holding up an eldar head for the heck of it), this just isn't the fluff section.

I like the scheme that you've come up with for these guys (particularly the first tac squad) but I'm not sure about the color of the chest eagle identifying the squad. This would make more sense for the company designation. Maybe a uniform color for the eagles and then the squad color matching could be on the knee pads. This would also break up the large expanses of black on these figures.

I don't see any chapter icongraphy. What is the chapter symbol? The IF/CF fist wreathed in flames by any chance?

Yes, there are female marines and my Sunhawks will explain it to you.

It's not the color of the chest eagle that's a squad identifier, it's the whole of the marking and honor badges in general. The first squad uses the two-headed Imperial Eagle as it's main badge, while the second squad uses a winged skull. Other than that, there's nothing that specifically numbers or identifies a squad. I've never really made an official chapter icon either, but yeah, flaming first wreathed in flames, and probably with a set of wings thrown in for good measure would be a good one.
