When I say 'end' I kind of meant end of this saga. Not a 'and da exterminatus killed all' end. A mean a daring duel and a narror escape for our dear Inquisitor Lord (who is now turning out to be a bit of a softie) and Co. It doesn't have to stop there. This could be just a small snippet...

I think Owain should do a end of game post, me and Olmedo reach the Valk, we just escape as we find a vox in the Valk and tell a Imperial ship that has just entered the system to blow up the planet.

That way we can countine it anytime we want in the future

Why blow up the planet?

Exterminatus would not be used so readily. Even if they had completely ovverun it, most times the Imperium would rather do a counter-invasion.

At most you would ask for pick-up from a friendly ship, and escape the system. Leaving Pyranda to it's fate.

Olmedo, Ieron, Furious and the remaining Guardsmen sprinted down the path towards the path towards the cliff face; they could now see the circular plasteel doors set deep into the living rock. From the bunkers set into the wall above, PDF soldiers waved and shouted at them. The crew-served heavy stubbers opened up, filling the air with a constant dakka-dakka-dakka and a hail of hot lead. The retinue looked at each other in dismay. Was this to be the end? Were they to suffer so ignoble an end to their mighty quest, mistakenly cut down by those they had come here to protect? Everything seemed to move in slow motion as shock set in and they braced themselves to meet their end.















Korvanon grinned savagely as he and his squad burst from the undergrowth, chanting their obscene battle-hymns in praise of the Dark Gods. Korvanon Iron-Tooth, Chosen of the Dark Gods, let out a maniacal cackle as he raised his power maul and ran towards the Inquisitor and his party with his brothers close behind. He had been lucky indeed to catch up with the famed Inquisitor Furious; surely the gods would reward him for sacrificing one so mighty. Indeed, centuries ago this man had ridden a drop pod through the roof of the Dreadfather's Palace on the daemon world of Trakkan Delta and proceeded to single-handedly slay the leader of the mighty warhost and purge half of his finest Chosen before vanishing via teleporter. The host had fallen to infighting; never would they know the glory of crushing the entire subsector under their iron boots, and it was all because of this worm. By slaying him, perhaps Korvanon would prove worthy of reuniting the scattered bands and bringing terror to the slaves of the false Emperor once more....




DAKKA-DAKKA-DAKKA! Korvanon started as he saw where the Inquisitor and his men had been fleeing to; before he had time to utter a curse to his foul gods, a spread of high-density slugs struck him in the chest. The sheer force of the blow knocked him to the ground like a pole-axed grox, blood leaking from the sundered faceplate of his ornate helm.











Just as Furious and his servants had steeled themselves to meet their end, the tracers from the Imperial position went whizzing over their heads. They turned to see that several squads of Iron Warriors had burst out of the undergrowth behind them and were now being pushed back by the sheer weight of fire from the PDF stubbers. <GO!>, Ieron sent. With a last nod to his Interrogator, Furious made a break for the door. Olmedo, Donut and the last few Guardsmen in the party turned and fired off their heavy weapons as they went. Ieron let out a sigh and drew an ornate force-sabre from a lacquered sheath on his back. With a frenzied scream he ploughed into the Traitor Marines, his blade glowing with blue wychfire and making short work of ancient ceramite plating. Severed limbs and heads hit the ground with disturbing frequency and those who did not fall to his blade fell under a hail of eldritch lightning. With a final leap, Ieron hurled himself over the guard of an Iron Warrior and hammered the force-blade into the joint between neck and body armour. The psyker swayed on his feet, the flames wreathing his blade guttering as his power waned. He smiled and let darkness take him once more.

Epilogue.

Ieron placed the charred officer's cap and the medic's badge on the altar; they were all that they could recover of Hazzard and Cory in the ruins save for the corroded old chain-sabre that was now slung over his back. He slowly drew it out of its fire-blackened leather scabbard and ran his fingers along the serrated teeth of the weapon, remembering the heretics that had fallen before it in the hands of the lieutenant. And it will purge many more, in your memory and the Emperor's name. The chainblade coughed into life, its blades whirring as they had when Hazzard had once driven them into the flesh of an Iron Warrior. Ieron raised it and revved its diminutive motor twice in salute, once for each of his fallen comrades. May you sit side by side at the Emperor's table.

Nearby, the skull mask of a Culexus assassin was surrounded by candles. The bastard had been loyal to the Emperor until the end. Ieron commended his soul to the god-protector of mankind, if he truly had one.

And so, dear friends, our adventure draws to a close. It has been an honor to fight alongside you in the past few weeks... may we do so again soon.

An abridged short-story edition will be released as soon as possible; I'll post a link here when it'd done.

Looking back, we've all come a long way. Despite a rocky start Olmedo actually became one of my favorite characters and at the very least I grew to respect Effilion. Our silly little story quickly grew into something greater than the sum of its parts.

Well done, Owain. This was an enoyable, engaging thread that you created. I got a great deal of fun out of it.

As soon as I finish all of my Imperial Guard I intend to see our warband make it to the tabletop. I've already found most of the parts I'm going to use to convert Hazzard and Olmedo.

I'm starting an Ad mech army (based off the IG codex, with daemon hunter allies) so I'm definitely making Olmedo to take the place of the commander in the IG codex. The leader will actually be a Magos, but Olmedo will be there as well. It'll be good to see them when you finish them Owain

Agreed. Though I always sorta imagined Cory as the Sister Hospitallier model, and Hazzard as that Lieutenant and bolt pistol. I actually have him in my IG army, and he does do the craziest stuff. First day after I got him, he singlehandedly chased down a squad of 20 DE...twice. He's done other stuff, most amazingly would be singlehandedly killing a Chaos Lord all by hiself (and one normal guard buddy...I'm guessing Donut ) Granted the Deamon Weapon did help, but still...that guy is Epic.

hehe isnt it funny how stuff like this happens? im already trying to find parts to make a dynamic looking culexus assassin. we should make a post linking to models we made. and for some reason i always pictured furious like the death korp of kreig commissar modal....

Tryjon is obviously a Stormtrooper Sergeant. I'll have to trick him out to give him more personality; I am definitely taking Stormtroopers. People bash them but I LOVE the idea of elite spec-ops troops and their models are amazing. 'Sides, I play casual.

Olmedo's going to be an Enginseer with some modifications; obviously the fancy bolter is a must.

Hazzard is pieced together from the fancy gubbinz that come in the new Tank Accessory Sprue and will probably get a head with a custom hat. Cory will take some searching; maybe I'll convert her from a Reaper miniature. Donut's already a member of my CCS; He's holding a plasmagun like it weighs nothing with binoculars in his offhand. May give him hair.

Effilion's gonna be a challenge.... but he won't be a standard Culexus model. Thinking of using an Eldar body.

Undecided on Furious, but I know he's gonna be... exciting to say the least.

At the conclusion of Tyranid Roleplay I think we should have an intervening adventure. I'm all for realism but Ieron's crazy Force Unleashed moments were fun to write.

True, but unlike his lordship Ieron, I was/is a mere civilian.

And in this thread I was only a guardsman with a chainsabre and a bolt pistol. Which is why you'll notice that in the WHOLE thread I only killed a single Iron Warrior myself, and I was very nearly dead at the end of it. The others were killed by the Heavy Bolter team or the Bombardment.

Still, I thought the best thing about the whole thread wasn't necessarily the action, but the hostile view that Ieron and Hazzard took to the Assassin Effilion and how he redeemed himself in the end.

i deliberately made the assassin hostile to everyone 'cept olmedo for poops. olmedo he has respect for cos of something that happened a long time ago.... but thats another story
