Think I'm probably looking at a squad of 5 to ride a Raider and mix things up a bit in melee. Should clog any advances for a while eh?

Not 4 and a minder? I thought they had a chance to blow up or be stupid or something. I guess I'm an edition behind though.

Rat ogre grotesques are awesome.

Stop making me want to burn my old 3rd edition DE on a bonfire and run out and buy new GW kits

Nope don't need a nanny anymore though they do benefit greatly from one. They used to go berserk if you didn't have a Haemonculus in your army. Tbh I don't think the 3rd Ed Warriors would look too out of place if you mixed em through with the newer ones. I've got my old Reavers mixed in with the new and they do look quite nice

On a further bug related issue, my Mars Attacks KS gubbinz turned up today. Gotta say- loving the giant mutant ants and spiders... Got the little Martian beastmasters with em too. Didn't realise quite how tiny the Martians themselves were. The plastic is quite bendy too which makes for some interesting experiments with posing.

Think I definitely like the ant better, but the spider is still cool.

Neat!

The big necron thing is pretty cool too, always liked those.

Yeah I think the giant ant looks more bad ass. Regardless, I'm going to run them as Clawed Fiends for my Dark Eldar I think. My Kabal is renowned for having exotic beasts and Wych cults with them when they raid. I may poke Mantic and ask if they intend to have either of them in Dungeon Saga- That'd make for some interesting critters to fight! My recent bug obsession originates from watching the 1990s Spider-Man animated series over the past few days! Forgot how awesome the Man-Spider is (Neogenic Nightmare storyline)

Furthermore, here's a test paint of one of my brother's paintjobs for Hive Fleet Behemoth 'nid warriors, which I think looks pretty badass. Can't wait to see the rest of his army painted up like that!

That Nid does look good! Will you be posting the rest here, or even getting your brother to start his own blog?

Those MA bugs are neat, and done up in a suitable scheme could look awesome in a DE army.

Nid does look pretty much spot-on for the color scheme and the glossy coat is a nice touch.

I did like that spiderman show quite a bit, watched it again on Netflix only a year or two ago. The other spiderman stuff they've got on there is kind of meh compared.

Not sure mate- as I said, my brother painted it. At a guess though it's probably Genestealer Purple and Xereus Purple

Yes. And their arms too apparently which means you can avoid using that silly crossed arms pose they gave the Archon.

In fine Druchii tradition, one of the Mercs in my Court is a Sslyth warrior. The scales colour scheme is the same one used for GW's studio scheme for the Lizardmen Carnosaur/Grimloq Coming along rather nicely. Though I'm a bit stumped with the sash around the mid section. Colour suggestions please?

On a further note, this will be the last iPhone 3GS pic I will ever upload. There is a God! My upgrade has finally gone through so snaps from here on in will be from a rather badass camera on my new phone.

I've also decided my Cronos will be painted in a similar style to my brother's Tyranid warrior (in terms of the striations on the carapace). My brother heavily converted it from Carnifex and Daemon Prince bits to give it a more freakish nature.

Cheers.

I'd paint it a deep red to stand out against the blue without overloading the eye and distracting from the rest.

Yeah could do, but it doesn't seem ragged enough for a flesh sash.

That Sssssssssslyth is one hell of a cool miniature, IIRC is it some sort of bodyguard for an Archon or is it a character in its own right?

The Grotogre conversions are excellently done.

The Sslyth is part of the Archon's retinue, but I tend to use models from other ranges, to represent the various alien races who offer their mercenary services to the Dark Eldar.

You can also run the Archon's retinue as a separate HQ choice and just have a squad of them. I should also point out that I've removed the crappy knuckle duster and flimsy finecast sword and replaced it with a Venom Blade (not an option but I think we'll agree it's a cool looking sword!)

Ahh that sounds like another change then maybe, I've got to resist buying the new codex (there is a new codex right?) because then I'd want the new rule set

Yeah if you don't have an Archon in your army, it's classed as an hq slot just like a command squad for space marines.
There is a new codex yes. With a rather bad ass looking Archon on the front. Power from Pain now runs on a turn by turn basis instead of having to kill units to gain pain tokens. So by turn 3 or 4 your army is quite a potent killing machine. If you run Haemonculi cult lists your grotesques, wracks, talos and cronos engines are very potent indeed.

This afternoon I had a game for the 1st time using Dark Eldar 7th ed rules. Very satisfying indeed. Sure my brothers tyranids have large monsters in, but that didn't stop my aircraft and skimmers from knocking lumps off em. Cronos and Talos engines took down a Trygon (admittedly at the cost of the Cronos' death from acid blood).

Also I received my Games&Gears paintbrushes on Friday. Really nice products.
