I am in the slow period of freelance animation work so I decided to doodle up some 40k stuff and see what kind of fun I can create in photosho.

Penciled, inked and then scanned and colored via Photoshop CS3.

Boring Chaos guy. Just a doodle that looked alright and decided need some splash of color.

Possessed Chaos Marine. Wish they were more useful in game terms.

Done for Nick Rose. Picture of his Emperor's Champion.

More to come. Doodling an ork right now and probably bust out some Eldar stuff before long.

Question: Have you ever used a Wacom tablet or something similar to do Photoshop work? If yes, would you mind sharing a little bit about your experience?

Fantastic work, I must say that it is some of the very best fan-art for 40k I have ever seen!

Hey Thanks for the compliments.

For those, I use Photoshop CS3 on a new macbook with an intous 2 wacom tablet. I like it, and for any artists types out there that are interested in digital art make sure to get a tablet. They are one of the most useful things you can have, and my current one has gone through 4 different computers. I would say go with an intous, due to the larger sensitivity level, but it is pretty expensive. I would also say get it through amazon, usually they are about 75 less then most local stores that carry them. I will plan on doing a little how I color etc.

But new pic, an ork shooting lots and lots. And most likely not hitting that many hah. Other stuff to come? Maybe some dwarf action and other fantasy bits. Oh the Black Templar is based off of a friends miniature for his Emperor's Champion.

Hopefully more work to come, depending on if I get some assignments to finish some educational animation.

Was it intentional for nerds to look at that Deathwing Termi and hear "Snikt" in their heads? Shoulda painted him up as an Imperial Fist, Yellow and black is so much more fitting to that pose.

SPORE 'SPLOSION!

I'm of the opinion that ork blood is red (which generally makes for good contrast with the green), but I likes the pic all the same

I thought GW put, somewhere in the last ork codex, a piece of fluff as to why their blood is red.

I think you are right, and it is easy to change hahah. But then Green makes it more weird so it works.

But yeah, I bet they explain it to be red, even though if you are fungus based creation, you will not have red blood etc.

Heavy Metal painted the old display figs with "normal" red blood. When people commented on it, it was explained as Orcs having a real high iron level in their blood or some such thing.

wasn't the reason for ork blood, and I think I'm quoting the WD here, "that Orks with green blood would look like Orks with peppermint sauce."
