Been wanting to do this for awhile. Had the Lord fig sitting on my shelf staring at me and everything. The idea is a Lord made up to lead my Flayed Ones into combat. Despite the fact I'm getting the hang it of though, anything that requires Green Stuff tends to get procrastinated because of my constant self doubt. I made up a bit too much however for another minor thing I was doing (you'll get to see them later) and decided to go ahead and give it a go finally. The fact it also let me stall changing the litter boxes is just a coincidence I swear. Enough rambling, here he is, the green areas are his skin suit, which is not yet finished.

I think its a cool thought. I cant wait to see it once you finish it up. The green stuff work looks really good so really all I cant wait for is to see it painted :p Though if your eldar army is any indication of the time it takes for you to paint then well it might be a while before I can see that.

I suppose the skinning hands "count as" a Warscythe?

Yep. Did the same on my Wraith Lord, though he used the metal claws. This one's my first attempt at scratch making a set. I'm redoing that first hand posted above, don't like it.

Claws are all in place. Note that his Resurrection Orb is of course not glued in yet, but it let me know how to shape his hand to hold it best I could. I'll let this set up good and then file down the knuckles smoother and fill the gaps with a bit of green stuff to make the bulk of the hand. Then with the arms done, I'll get back to working on his skin suit and the bits that will drape over his arms.

This guy looks pretty good. I think he might look a bit better with his arm sort of titled upwards, slightly. Still, though, I really like this concept.

New arm position is ace, especially considering it holds the res orb. Loving this concept so far, and your execution is great so far. Keep it up!

You know, after having only gotten ~5 hours of sleep each of the last three nights you'd think I'd be smart enough to go to bed at a decent time, but no. I slack and I procrastinate, but once I start something, I go all out and I end up losing more sleep tonight trying to finish it. Oh well...

That's a very impressive model. Is there another place other than in his hand for the resurrection orb? It's been done before, and in the original picture you had with it it looked to me like he was about to hand it to somebody. Can't wait to see it painted.

There's not really a good spot for the Orb at this point other than the hand. Even I commented on it looking like he was offering it to someone with the first pic of it, but the slight bend and reposition of the arm really helps with that.

He's primed currently, but you're going to have to wait to see him finished painting whether you like it or not as I have not gotten any flesh paint yet, and with ~$4 a gallon gas, I'm not making the ~30 minute interstate drive for a paint pot. Earliest I'll have him done is Wednesday, with Tuesday being the FLGS night so I can get the paint, but won't have time to do it that night.

On a semi-related note... Is it carrying a theme too far when you spray paint your case and dice to match the color of your army?

The way I painted my Flayed Ones befor, and which I thought worked out well, was the paint the Necron portion first, then paint in the flesh. Base coat the Necron black, dry brush his gold on, paint the claws and shoulders bronze, and blue wires. Then I base coated the flesh portion red. If this got on the Necron parts... So he gets a bit carried away with his work, you gotta admire a guy who enjoys his job. Then dry brushed on the flesh color, this time being more careful to not paint the Necron. Nice fresh clothes. This guy will then get a light dry brush (see a pattern in my methods?) of dark blue on his cloak, and paint his hair. Not decided on his hair color yet.

Here he is with his first black base coat. It's not really worth posting except it nicely shows off where the Necron ends and the flesh begins very well.

This is a really cool idea and it seems to be going well so far.

This might sound a bit silly, but I have to say it. The only thing that is bothering me is that....

Well. His nipples. They're humongous. I mean, I know this is heroic scale....but seriously.

What I'm saying is I would make the nipples a little smaller. Other than that, it's nice and it'll be cool to see it painted.

I know what you mean. The nearest place to me that I know of, which sells anything GW related, is about 2 hours north to Orlando, or 2 hours south to Miami. Thank god I'm moving soon.

I keep imagining him performing Romeo and Juliet, spouting prose to a fem'cron standing in the balcony of a monolith. Highly entertaining I think you should put a rose in his right hand, and paint a star struck expression on his face

I do have to agree with the nipples being a bit big. I am not certain that even in the far future pancakes will be so common on men.

Still, damn cool though. Can't wait to see it painted.

What? You mean like her? He can't really do Star Struck though. Heck, he can't really do any kind of facial expression what with him not actually having muscles and all.

Still no flesh colored paint, and as it turns out, I don't have any red either. Doesn't stop me from painting his Necron parts though, and that is actually his hair color that I'm going to go with. I messed around with a couple of different colors but didn't like em for one reason or another. I went with the white because it will stand out nicely, as well as show off the unkempt messiness of his hair. It's also uncoincidentally the hair color of my Marine chapter, who's geneseed mutation makes em all albino. It amuses me when one of my armies has trophies from from one of my others.

Last two pics are his two options of Resurrection Orbs. I think I like the smaller one better. It has a better proportion to the rest of the fig, and help his claws keep a nice long size, instead of appearing "just right" in relation to the object he's holding.

edit; Oh, and for the record, the camera make his cloak appear a much brighter blue than it really is. Not sure why it does that, as even now looking at it in the same lighting I took the picture in it doesn't appear nearly that bright.

The brighter blue makes it actually show up more so you can see the splotchyness of it's layering. The "real" colors are much more subdued, you don't notice it very much except on the very most raised portions, keeping it from looking like a shapeless black mass. The bright version looks like he's going for some kind of urban camo to me.

Yes... In fact, buy her, paint her up, and make some "Necron of Venice" type setting for the scene. (R&J takes place in Capua, but "The Necron of Venice" strikes me as amusing too.

Seriously, you would have tremendous epeen as a result of capturing the Necron mating dance in model form.

As to a star struck look, just make him slack jawed and doe eyed, with a slight look of longing. Just because his jaw is slack from lack of muscle control and his eyes are large because the sockets are stretched out doesn't matter

I think I'm going to get that fembot to use as a generic Pariah, just because I think it's odd all the Pariahs are male, and it would help as visual diversity to the unit.

Oh, and I think he'd do a better Phantom of the Opera, what with his half masked face and all.
