Hey guys this is my first post. So im hoping for some good advice because ive heard a lot of good stuff about this site.

Well.. my problem is that i play imperial guard and i have absolutely no special weapons. Soooo my idea is that i have a bunch of plasma pistols i wanted to see if anyone could walk me through how to convert plasma pistols into plasma guns. I have lasguns, grenade launchers, and flamers to "base" off of. Anyways. Thanks a lot and i'm hoping to post more.

btw. I play imperial guard and chaos space marines. and i hate what gw did to csm.

Welcome to Dakka!

My conversion was pretty simple, check out frothing looney #3

chopped off the cadian flamer nozzle, chopped off the plasma pistol up to the ribbed vents. Glue and viola! Plasma gun.

Join the club my friend, join the club.

But, in answer to your question, Plasma Guns are easy to come by and actually don't require converting. All you have to know is where to look.

Now, they're out of stock at the moment, but these things usually come in quite quickly and you can E-mail the owners to ask them when they expect more to come in. And there are many other bits sites as well, such as The Warstore.

Know any sm players? We tend to get lots of extra assault weapons (flamers, meltaguns, plasma guns) since they come in tactical squad packs and command squad packs. I usually find it difficult to fit all three of the included assault weapons into one tactical squad.

Here's how I made mine.. check out the gunners in this pic..

In the cadian box there's 1 lasgun arm without a hand molded onto the front.. so you take that gun and save the empty hand arm to hold onto the gun.

Get your SM plasma pistol and cut off the back of it right along the rear side of the coily part. Then you take that lasgun and cut off the front part, right along the front of the ammo cartridge part. Then you glue the pistol to the lasgun and use a teeny bit of greenstuff to smooth out the seam and also fill any liitle hole you might get on the bottom side of the plasma gun.

And there ya go. Quick and easy "light plasmagun"

I did mine by placing just the muzzle of the plasma gun onto where the flamer nozzle would be. Quick, simple and unique, though it lacks the characteristic chamber of a plasma gun it looks heavy and lethal enough.

hears how i do mine from a lasgun -

you can just about see where i trimmed the plasma pistol in to a locking 'L' shape and cut the lasgun to suit. sorry for the image quality - mobile phone.

Since I've made about four of these in just the past week, and I came across this thread, I figured I'd actually make a forum account and post a couple pics.

It's pretty simple, but here are the diagrams showing where to cut. The green lines indicate cuts.

It's not strictly necessary, but I also take the ammo canister from the bottom or top back and put it on the flamer where the tank normally hangs.

Here's what it looks like afterwards:

Here's the same method using a Chaos plasma pistol, and a Khornate plasma pistol:

Welcome to Dakka! And what a great first post!

How did you do the diagrams? Can we see more of your traitor guard?

Y'know this topic should be an article.

I have done the same as a lot of other people here and used Space Marine plasmagun tips connected to a Cadian flamethrower with an old electrical wire superglued to the Cadian Vox backpack with most of the pointy bits hacked off for a power source. I drilled out the barrel with a 1/16" drill bit.

I'm pretty happy with the results. Still need a bit of green stuff or putty or something for the transitional area which I filed down to match as best I could. The plasmagun is quite a bit wider where it meets the flamer bit. It's much more noticable in the pics than it is in your hand at arms length which is how I judge my work. Larger pics available via the links before the pics. Sorry the pics aren't better.

At first I didn't like the flamer coversion... but then I started thinking about the "arm's length" effect, and the fact that the dude looks pretty wary of the weapon. Then I liked it. It's still a bit much mass that far out on the weapon, though.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

yeah, I agree, I have about 50 vox backpacks not being used along with flamers. I might have to pay a visit to the warstore for more plasma guns as I have about 3 of the metal PG cadian's and they were scuplted by a slowed monkey with poo encrusted whore-hands.

So, I put these guys all next to each other, and all I could think was "Don't cross the streams".
