im looking to make my own daemon princes of nurgle becuase i dont realy like the models and think it could be cool if pulled of right. the main problem i have is that iv heard gw is making poeple stick to a set base size for what the models comes with, i think dreads have bigger bases than a daemon prince but im not 100 percent sure. anyways my plan is to make the dread taller and repose him, add pus cannons and pus tank to represent the nurgles rot. and lots of pustules and wires and gross stuff and...

what do you poeple think?

Personally, I like the idea. And I find the new base rule rather silly. Do you play in tournaments? Because, if you only play with friends, I don't see why a larger base should be a problem.

I made one out of a Wraithlord.

nobody has ever complained.

It's on a Monstrous Creature base. The Daemon Prince is a Monstrous Creature so I don't see a problem.

I've also made one out of a dread I had nurglified. I added modified jet pack nossles. Will try to take some pics of it tomorrow night. I added an extra arm and tons of green stuff and zombie bits. It looks pretty gross and fits the whole, nurgle daemon prince. It also works with the idea that they have an iron hide.

They are both on 60mm bases. I might be in the minority, but if a dude spends hours building/converting/painting a model, its cool if the base is a little bigger. I would suggest that you just inorm your oppenent before the game and he should be cool.

Cheers

Thanks for the compliments, I wasn't anticipating so much interest in the DP. I consider him only 80% done. He needs a little more highlighting and a glaze here and there. Maybe some weeping sores and rust spots too. That's a lantern full of severed heads and human waste in his other hand.

My Nurgle army is currently WIP but I'm planning to do another wraithlord/DP. I think the other one will have a sword and be more detailed overall. I'll probably put the whole thing in an article when it's further along. I haven't thought of a reason why they would exist other than Nurgle's sense of humor.

I've got greenstuff 90% done on 14 plaguebearers made from WHFB zombies. The "fluff" is that Nurgle's Rot found its way onto an Imperial world with a large hospital complex. Old Father Nurgle was so pleased that he let the resulting Plaguebearers retain some semblance to their mortal forms.

Other elements of the army might include Daemonette Nurses and Tzeentch Flamers. The flamers follow the Nurgle daemons into battle using their flames to eradicate the blight that Nurgle spreads during the battle.

This picture is from weeks ago when I had lots of work left to do on feet, faces, and eyes.

well im partly done with the daemon prince but it is not turning out as good as i hoped but i have a second dread kit to bash so i can use what i learned to build the next one. ill post some piks wene i can get a better camera over to my place. and i have a good tip for everyone, the amazing putty you see on tv(billy maze/oxy clean dude) it sucks, i bought thinka well its cheap and you get a lots of it, the problem is that it hardens extremly fast, its not hard to mold or anything it just takes a lots of time mixing a little epoxy at a time.

The picture's pretty blurry, but I like it a lot! Especially the busted gut area. I do wish there was a bit more integration between certain mechanical elements and the flesh. The hand, for instance, seems a bit tacked-on. Maybe the scar tissue (maggots?) on the wrist could have continued down onto the hand.

Also, he seems a bit... well, for lack of a better term, dry. I think some more oozy-looking washes are in order.

heres some more picks, id add more greensuff but i need more first.

some feedback would be nice.

im very angry because for some reason i cant take any good pictures, outside, inside, flash, no flash, white background etc. they all suck, so sorry for the horrible picks. it looks a lot better in person but i cant show it off becuase of the crappy piks. the only things i dont like about the model are the tacked on arm and the legs. what i do like about it are the exposed stomach area, and the face on the left of the head(cant realy see it in the picture).

Ooh - I can't really tell from the pic, but does he have big tentacles coming down from his head? A nice Cthulhu head would be great on this guy.

Reaper, check the settings on your camera for a mode called MACRO. Maybe look at the instruction manual if you still have it.

It might not say macro. It might just be a little icon that looks like a flower or it might just be an "M."

It will let you take those close up shots and they'll be in focus. Notice how your last picture has the chair and vase in focus? It's because your camera is focusing at a distance greater than the position of your minis.

yeah i like the face but bigger tentacle would have been cool, if you did a cthulu nurgle army that would be sick, they would all look like mindflayers... maybe my chosen will be like that.
