I was in the triangle area of NC this weekend... traveled with Mike Walsh over to an RTT today in Greensboro at the Castle. I had my standard Blood Ravens 1850 point list. Mike was running his drop pod Space Wolves. Here is my abbreviated list:
Librarian in termie armor, storm shield, cloak, VoT, FotA
4x termie w. 2x AC
Librarian in termie armor, storm shield, VoT, FoD
4x termie w. 2x AC
2x (5x tactical Marine w. las/plas + veteran sergeant w. bolter, fist & teleport homer)
2x (5x tactical Marine w. las/plas + veteran sergeant w. bolter)
LST
LST
5x Devastator w. 4x ML + veteran sergeant w. bolter
5x Devastator w. 5x HB + veteran sergeant w. bolter & teleport homer
All missions came from Adepticon 2007 Gladiator. My first game was versus Chaos - mix of Slaanesh and Nurgle. His list looked something like this:
Slaaneshi Sorceror in termie armor w. lash & combi bolter
Nurgle Lord on bike w. Plague Bringer
7x Plague Marines w. 2x plasma gun & fist in rhino
6x Noise Marines w. blast master
Oblit
Oblit
Oblit
6x Nurgle bikers w. fist & 2x plasma gun
6x Slaaneshi terminators w. reaper auto cannon & chain fist
10x Nurgle Chosen w. las/plas & fist
Primary objective was to control the center of the table. Secondary was table quarters and tertiary I don't remember. 12 inch deployment zones along long table edges. My opponent infiltrated his Chosen 18 inches away from my standard brick of Marines (majority of units in cover) and held Chaos termies in reserve. I elected to start with both termie units on the table. I won the roll for 1st turn and elected to go second.
Plague Marines pop out inside rhino (forgot to pop smoke) and all three Oblits come out from behind cover. Nurgle bikers and Nurgle Lord on bike come out from behind cover, turbo boosting behind more cover. Noise Marines march up from behind cover and Chosen fire into HB Devs and kill one tactical Marine. My turn both termie squads start the trek forward towards the table center. LSTs move to with range of Chosen.
More to come soon!

My turn I destroy the rhino with krak missiles and one Plague Marine dies in the explosion. I also vaporize one of the Oblits with a well placed lascannon shot. Other two Oblits survive via bad dice rolls. Heavy bolters from Dev team strafe the Chosen along with combined fire from both LSTs and both termie squads (6x assault cannon goodness)... they vanish under the heavy concentration of firepower.
Next turn the Nurgle Lord de-attaches from the Nurgle bikers and rolls up on first squad of termies. Nurgle bikers come out from behind cover but are not in range to assault, missing my termies by less than an inch. Two remaining Oblits plasma cannon termies but only kill one. Nurgle Lord vaps two termies in close combat then the remainder plus one Librarian pile in.
My turn I nuke the other two Oblits and krak missile the Nurgle bikers. Chief Librarians force weapons Nurgle Lord on the charge.
Next turn Slaaneshi termies deep strike beside two of my tactical squads over on my far flank. They shoot and kill one Marine. Plaque Marines move up towards center of table supported by Slaaneshi sorceror and Noise Marines.
My termies move towards center of table as well and vap Plague Marines with more assault cannon goodness. LSTs move to avoid shooting and are in position to secure center of table. My two tactical squads over by the Chaos termies only manage to kill three... both lascannons whiff. : (
Final turn Chaos termies engage both tactical squads and kill one unit, remaining locked in combat with the other. LSTs plus termies drench Noise Marines with yet more assault cannon goodness then one lascannon drops the Slaaneshi sorceror. LSTs take primary objective as planned and I control the most table quarters. I take all three objectives plus one tactical bonus point as well.
A nice start for the Blood Ravens. Next mission two versus Tau.

Good job! I like the abbreviated reports, the fluffy ones should go into fiction threads...
Will you keep posting in this thread for the rest of your games?

I was at the RTT, and had a blast. Didn't cross paths with GBF though. Maybe next time.
It's worth mentioning just how beautiful Mike Walsh's Drop Pod Wolves are.

The game against the Tau the mission three objectives dealt with victory points and you deployed in opposite table quarters. The terrain was lean with nothing to hide vehicles. The Tau skimmers were in trouble! Here is my opponent's list:
Crisit Suit commander (plasma/missile) w. shield drone
2x suits (plasma/missile) w. shield drones
2x suits (plasma/missile) w. shield drones
2x suits (plasma/missile) w. shield drones
10x Fire Warriors w. Devilfish
10x Fire Warriors w. Devilfish
10x Kroot
6x Stealth suits
Pirhana w. fusion blaster
Pirhana w. fusion blaster
Hammerhead w. railgun
Hammerhead w. railgun
2x Broadside suits w. shield drones
This mission each player got to place an enemy unit in reserve until the 4th turn. I picked HH with ion cannon and he picked Devs with missiles.
I won the roll to go first and promptly destroyed the hammerhead on the table, both Devilfish and vapped one entire squad of Fire Warriors. Nice. More to follow.

Why don't my Space Marines ever get to fight Tau on that kind of table, and with first move???? Almost balances the fight! What do you think would have happened if HE had the first move? Would you have kept your LST and Termies in reserve to deep strike against his vehicles? Hope your last game is against orks. I want to see if your Psyker powers were useful.

I always deep strike the terminators against Tau to root out the crisis suits. With the lack of terrain I would have probably deep struck my landspeeders as well.

The Tau player's turn he is somewhat demoralized and focuses on taking out both my LST which I figured and luckily I got my licks in with them first. That was about it for the Tau turn.
My second turn the termies with Boo arrive from reserve and I put them right in the middle of four Tau units hugging table edges. If I scatter more than 5 inches the entire unit of termies are dead but it is so tempting I go for it. The scatter dice rolls up with a hit and I boo three of four units off the table... assault cannons shred the fourth unit... so Broadsides, one unit of suits, Fire Warriors and Kroot all gone. The Tau player tells me he remembers why he hates Space Marines again.
I won't go into much more detail about the second game except to say that my opponent made a solid comeback in the last five turns... one of the special mission rules was that either player could request a seventh turn which had to be played. The Tau player still had two piranhas, two units of suits, his commander in a suit, the stealth suits and the second hammerhead with an ion cannon that came in from reserve on the fourth turn... plus a unit of gun drones that I forgot to mention earlier when I listed his army. The gun drones and the stealth suits both deep striked onto the table on turn four along with the second hammerhead (skimmer tank moved on from table edge in his deployment zone). It was really hard to take down one unit of suits along with the commander and the stealth suits did well for awhile but then the Tau player got a bit careless towards the end and my chief Librarian was able to charge them. My army was slowly whittled down but by the end of the seventh turn I had managed to kill the stealth suits, another unit of suits, both piranhas and the gun drones. I charged a lone sergeant into the gun drones (no power fist) to tie them up so that the chief Librarian could charge them the next turn. I still had both Dev squads, two scoring tactical squads, my chief Librarian and the junior Librarian along with all his termies. We tied on table quarters... I held his table quarter and he held the two adjacent table quarters. So I ended up with the primary objective and secondary but not the tertiary and one tactical bonus point.

My last game was against my very good buddy and long time 40k partner Mike Walsh. I had a feeling we might match up in the third round and sure enough we did. Mike and I had the opportunity to play on Saturday in a friendly game so I was looking forward to a rematch. Mike was playing his drop pod Space Wolves:
Wolf Lord on bike (tooled out! )
Venerable dreadnaught (multi-melta & heavy flamer + extra armor) in drop pod
Wolf Guard Battle Leader in termie armor with Wolfguard bodyguard in termie armor (3x assault cannon) in drop pod
2x (8x Grey Hunters w. 2x fist & meltagun in drop pod)
8x Blood Claws w. 2x fist in rhino (extra armor)
4x Blood Bikers w. fist + Wolfguard pack leader w. fist
LST
LST
Again the mission objectives were based on victory points plus it was basically a recon mission so you scored bonus victory points for your scoring units that moved into the opponent's deployment zone. I made the mistake of not reading all the mission rules thoroughly and did not realize that this was a recon style mission until after bringing in both termie squads from reserve. Oh well!
I had an excellent deployment denying the drop pods from being able to build a wall in front of my castle. I also used a creek terrain feature that would force the Space Wolves to take difficult/dangerous terrain tests to assault my army.
By the time I realized it was a recon style mission I had made the mistake of deep striking both of my termie command units into my deployment zone to support my castle. Mike shrewdly flanked his LSTs and landed his drop pods beside my deployment zone (10 inches in along the long table edge) so that he could move all those units into my zone the last turn. We did some quick hammer math towards the end of the game and came to the conclusion that it would have ended in a tie if I had deep striked both of my termie command squads into Mike's deployment zone. As it was I went second and was able to drop one of his LSTs and the Blood Claw bikers the end of the last turn with some strong shooting.
I also destroyed all of Mike's drop pods plus the rhino but unfortunately none of them were due to a penetrating 6. If I had been able to pen six at least one drop pod that would have exposed some of Mike's units to my shooting... but it was not to be! Also I think I should note that Mike was careful to place all his drop pods such that none could scatter off the table... on the flip side that allowed me to shoot at the units which moved into my deployment during the top of the sixth turn.
My army was untouched but Mike easily won the primary objective. We tied on the secondary and tertiary objectives. So Mike won best overall and I was a couple points shy of the best general award. It was a very fun game with everything of consequence occurring during the last turn... a nice way to end IV edition with my Blood Ravens. I did a quick count... my Blood Ravens overall record for tournament play is as follows:
13 wins - 2 losses - 3 draws
That is roughly 90 percent undefeated overall with my two sole losses against Moocher from Toledo and Mike Walsh from the Wrecking Crew... nothing to be ashamed of for sure!
By the way I will soon be putting my Blood Ravens up for sale on Ebay so be on the lookout. Some of them were painted by Scott Bowser (multiple Golden Daemon winner) plus I have a second unit of Devs with missile launchers. They are a great looking army and should do quite well when V edition is released (mid July) along with the new Space Marine codex (Sept/Oct).

Sorry I missed this tournament; it sounds like it was a lot of fun. I was planning to go, but life interfered and I had to withdraw at the last minute.
Why are you selling your army? You seem so fond of it.
