Thanks for the compliments folks;
I still have to add a few more things before he will be ready for paint (the ork skull and gob bit, and some more hoses wires, and syringes????), but I should be able to get him done this weekend.
as to the sculpting, I have to say that was a true pain. It might have been easier if I actually had sculpting tools
I was yelling at it, thinking that I was going to start the whole thing over, right up until the last push made it look right.
First; the plastic part of the face was there with the metal skull and the two ears already done,..... all that had been attached to the body the day before, and the green stuff was set. I then went to the task of the monocle and eye, as the ones on the original head were damaged (and just not big enough for the new head). after the monocle, i rolled up a ball of
GS and just put in on the face where I thought the eye should be. I started pushing it down on the edges with a wet x-acto blade, and then made several pokes with the tip to mark out and create the eye ball. After that, I used the pointy tip of a very small file to widen this gap between the lid and the eye, all the way around. Here is where I thought that I had messed it up completely. it looked like a big raised eyeball on a huge toad or something. I was almost ready to start over, but then I just pushed down on the upper side of the whole thing with the wet flat side of the blade. This pushed the inner side of the eye down, and formed a great little brow. This also left the eye rounded on the out side and more pointed toward the nose side of the eye. Sort of like a sideways tear drop shape.
hope that helps?????
