Still a work in progress, I figuer I've painted about 2000 pts worth so far. I'm aiming to have a big enough army to play an apoc game. I guess it's a cadian army, I haven't really outlined the fluff yet. The basic vibe I'm going for is an army that's mainly urban but still proudly displays it's colors to an extent. I use the listings from the daemonhunters codex because there's no ordos xenos stuff yet but I consider any inquisitor taken as ordos xenos borrowing some guard skilled in urban warfare for some unkown reason. I built my own "daemonhost" to look like some experimental super soldier, I view it as a personal body guard to the inquisitor.

I really like the rules for the last chancers and view them as a really expensive special forces unit with a lot of tactical flexibility at a hefty price. As such I've converted a bunch of scouts to use as last chancers. Because shotguns suck so bad I've decided to use the "shotguns" as storm bolters. Some may think that's lame but when you look at the difference in scale between some storm bolters and all the fluff about master crafting stuff I just figuer the inquisitor used his clout to requisition some specially made storm bolters. I did get the colonel shaefer model but I have yet to make one for kage.

I've made 3 conversion vehicles from other tank models. The first is a 1/35th scale german elephant artillery, I was trying to find a 1/48th scale to use as a basilisk with armored crew compartment but I couldn't find one. I haven't written up an rules yet but I plan on playing it as a warmachine with 2 or 3 structure points, decent armor, heavy bolter, storm bolter, the main weapon I'm still not sure about.

The second conversion is a 1/35th scale us m113 model. I view it as either a command vehicle or ordnance transporter for the previously mentioned vehicle. Again I haven't written any rules yet but I'd like to play it as a heavily armored transport and command vehicle. 2 heavy bolters, a storm bolter and a grenade launcher. Given it's size I figuer it could carry 15-20 guys.

The third conversion is a 1/35th german command tank. I'd like to make it a fast lightly armored tank with a heavy flamer and heavy bolter.

I still have yet to play a game since 3rd edition and I'd really love some feedback on my modelling an painting.

I plan on making some rough riders from the new 22$ dark left cold one knights. I just don't know how viable that is yet without seeing the models first hand. I can't wait though, rough riders are actually really great IMO and it's rare that you see them.

Anyway enough of my blathering, enjoy the pics.

Nice use of SM scouts for Storm Troopers - and I dig the bunker, too.

mekboy: I use it as a daemonhost, fluff wise i consider it as some kinda ordos xenos experiment, like an ogryn servitor super soldier that will only respond to the commands of the inquisitor. Sortof like bane from batman meets big daddies from bioshock.

I've got a little more basing to do but I'll post some more pix soon.

Not bad overall. I like those storm troopers.

Your minis seem a little "chalky". You might give the new GW washes a try to blend the colors together and soften the harsh stuff.

Well, the inquisitor, standard bearer, and the sniper team just are not up to par with the rest of the painting....

The Baneblade looks awesome, and the Ogryns look pretty cool too.

My only suggestion would be to hollow out some gun barrels. Take you a pin vice, and go to town!!

they all look really good.

The only thing i would change is if they are urban, why do they have bright green bases? Just my opinion but you are a great painter

Most local tables are based on the gw battlemats. Fluff wise I view the army as recently thrust into a mostly urban conflict, their original pattern being the green with camo green highlights. They keep some stuff the original army colors for nostalgic reasons or something. Good question though.

I'm not sure why, but everytime I see that first picture i think I'm looking at an Epic army. I have no idea why but it just looks so much like epic figures, just bigger.

Great army though.

Did I spy a T-70 in there too?

The use of the old pred turret on the panzer was a brilliant move too.

And was that sly marbo leading the flamer squad?

Heh. Your army is fun to play 'where's waldo' with. Nice paintin' too.

Though I wanna know what sorta lens or camera you're using. You're getting a good deal of distortion making everything look a bit flat.

That's not a bad thing. Just threw me off at first. I took a double take at the first picture because for a second I thought it was of an Epic army til I noticed the bases. :/
