Hey guys this is for an army Im working on Hes not perfect and needs some touching up especially on the runes on the cloak and the shading on the black, I also want to put an altiaoc symbol on the helm but I wanted to get this up tonight. Im not quite sold on the color scheme I picked yet, I think the grey might be too light, but once I get him based I plan to do a snow theme with some pretty cool display bases that Im going to make up. Ill post pics of those later when they exist. I also think that the helm needs to be painted blue and the face plate needs to be yellow(for the altiaoc yellow) well without further ado here are the pics.

WIP?

In my army, that's called done.

Penetrating so many secrets, we cease to believe in the unknowable. But there it sits nevertheless, calmly licking its chops.

As always comments are greatly appreciated. I think I needed another wash on the cloak too. Thanks to everyone in advance.

Nice and clean painting.

The cloak is at the moment not fitting to the fig. It should be in a stronger color as the blue and leather you have used are warm and saturated the light gray seems out of place. If the cloak would be in a stronger grey, the rifle would pop up and the focus would be drawn to the face plate (after it has been painted with yellow), which should be the figs focus point. As you plan to make the base covered with snow, the fig in current paint scheme will be lost, with darker cloak it would standout nicely against the snow.

The runes are not working at the moment either as the blue is too close to the gray, they get lost in the cloak. If you change the cloak to some darker color, the runes could be painted with the same red as the gems, which would unify the paint scheme.

All together nice painting, but the color choices let you down on this one.

Those were kind of my thoughts as well, do you think it be best to go with a darker grey for the cloak or maybe a different color all together? Thanks for the comments so far keep em coming.

Personally I'd make the base itself pretty dynamic...Rangers are best in cover, so if you model some type of low wall or piece of small terrain to block part of him, I think that would be pretty fitting.

Well it looks like a standard Eldar 'I am Shiny' figure that's all the rage these days.

You do know white is considered bad form for sniping, yes?

Unless you are in the snow. Then the black helmet and black rifle are also bad.

Unless you are on planet cow, then...it's all good.

Sorry, all tongue-in-cheek humor. I prefer camo rangers but if you like it, works for me.

So some real critique:

It looks like you just painted over the fingers under the barrel and the piping...just once.

I don't see any wash, did you apply one?

Gems are difficult. Yours need more practice. I'd leave them be until you get the gem system down correctly, it looks worse to have fudgy gems than not have gems.

The scrollwork on the bottom of the cloak needs another run, where you highlighted the cloak with white is showing through.

The scrollwork and the boots are the same color, this is bad.

Sorry if I repeated anything.

looks pretty good, but im not a fan of the armor plates and the head either, just dont seem to fit. i might also paint the black on the gun bone, and maybe do a winter camo on the cloak with grey, white and shadow grey. also i can show you how to do those gems if you want, yout misssing a couple layers

San Diego.

I'd hit the black parts with a black wash to blend the high lights. Also think about doing a camo scheme on the cloak. Maybe a ultramarine blue or codex gray, black, light gray and shadow gray scheme. Something like this

Adding washes to the entire model would add a lot of depth. The ruins need to be given an outline, probably best done by painting a black base, followed by the blues. I actually like the gray camo idea and scratch the ruins all together. Gems are missing a layer and have too much white on them.
