Hello!

CAGO, the Columbus Area Generals and Overlords gaming group, is holding a 1,500 point Warhammer 40,000 tournament on Saturday, November 8th. The tournament will start at 10am, and run until 8p ET.

CAGO-Ween is a themed tournament. Your army lists should be 1500 points, following the standard org charts. You will be playing 3 rounds. Each round will be a variation on the book's 3 scenarios, themed for Halloween. "The Great Pumpkin", "The Headless Horseman", and "Trick or Treat" will be the scenarios--details will be given during the tourney itself, for each scenario.

The tournament will award the following:

  • Best Gamer: highest combination of scores for painting & modelling, sportsmanship, and battle points

  • Best General: most battle points

  • Best Army: best score for painting and modelling (combined judge and player voting)

  • Best Sportsmanship: best score for sportsmanship

  • Best Halloween Themed Objective

  • Each person receiving an award will also receive prize support. More details on prize support TBD. We are hoping to be able to do a few door prizes in addition to the awarded prizes. Even if you don't win, though, everyone who attends the tournament will receive a "Trick or Treat" bag, filled with candy and some gaming goodies from CAGO. We are working with Flying Tricycle to produce some cool accessories for the bag!

The cost of the tournament includes your lunch, which will be catered in some fashion. There will also be drinks and snacks for sale throughout the day. If you have any special dietary needs, please let us know before October 25.

The tournament is being held at the Genoa Township Hall, in Westerville, OH. The address is 5111 S. Old 3C Hwy, Westerville, OH.

The cost of the tournament is $25 at the door--again, that includes the cost of lunch. If you pre-register by October 25th, your fee will be reduced to $20, still including your lunch. You can pre-register by sending me a payment by paypal (ace@dawnsedge.com) or sending a money order or cash, if you do not want to use paypal (paypal is preferred). PM me if you want to send payment via cash or money order.

Your army does not need to be fully painted to play, but it must be to be eligible for Best Gamer or Best Army. It must be fully assembled and WYSIWIG--no marine legs without torsos, or Crisis Battle Suits without weapons. Showing up with a fully painted and based army will earn you an extra 'Trick or Treat' bag item, so we encourage you to paint your armies!

One last thing--we'll be holding a contest for best 40k Halloween themed objective. Bring a home-made objective that fits the theme of 40k, your army, and Halloween, on a 40mm base, and enter it in the competition! Voting will be performed by all tourney participants and CAGO members.

Cool, thanks for the move! I waffled between SaG and N&R, and read up some of the FAQs, couldn't tell for sure where a post like this belonged. I remember seeing posts about tourneys in N&R, so I went there.

I really appreciate your help, though. Sorry about the mis-placement.

Sounds like a blast! I'll talk it over with my battlebrothers and we'll see if we can make it. Is there a player limit?

If more of us valued food and cheer and 40K over hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

We think we can cram 32 folks in, though we need to double-check when we rent the hall. 32 will be tight. 24 is much more do-able. We'll have to make a judgement call here in the next week or 2, and update the posting.
