I think they look pretty good, Im curious for replies about the cloaks, and whether or not they are a bit too busy, and the camo needs to be toned down with bigger blotches. Also I think the green on the scope needs to be changed and the runes on the scrolls need work. These things I'm not too worried about as once I finish a few more models those mixtures will sort themselves out. I plan on doing an urban snow covered bases for these guys. Thats the reason for the dark cloaks, the yellow sight is because I wanted to keep some yellow in for altaioc, but I may change it(any suggestions). Again all comments and critisms are most welcome. Thank you to everyone in advance.

I like it, its interesting to see the contrast between the bright colours with such a muted cloak. I havent seen your first picture, but I think that they look very good. The camoflage on the cloak is also well done.

Drake_Marcus: It's true- that's why the Space Wolves love termie armour so much. The whole "bear" thing they've got going on is just a thinly veiled cover-up of their huge, hairy cleavage.

i love the cloak and love the colour of the man himself, only thing i would suggest is changing the scope colour

and just asking are rangers "stealthy" soldiers, because from a fluff standpoint would light blue really be the best colours for men trying to blend in with their natural environment

apart from the scope i really like it

I'm not sure how I feel about the main part of the gun being the same color as the armor...they kinda become "one" to the eye.

I would kind of agree about the gun but I really dont know what other color to paint it. If I were to redo it it would have to be kind of subdued as to not take away from the blue, but the only color I can think would be decent is a white or a bleached bone. Maybe brown?

Overall, I think it works quite well. You can get away with the blue armour because the cloak would conceal most of it in the field. The rifle though, that's another matter.

Bright colours on a sniper rifle turn it into a bullet magnet. If you want to tone it down, but stay within the colours you've chosen, why not try Midnight Blue ? As for the scope, it would probably be more in character to match it to the weapon, whatever colour you chose in the end, making it seem as if it actually belonged there. Just an opinion, of course.

On the plus side, the variant of Urban Camo works well for me and makes a refreshing change from all the woodland and jungle variants you so often see.

I think on the next one I will use bigger splotches of Camo, it wont make it quite so "busy" for lack of a better term and will make each color stand out a bit more. I will also try a darker version of the weapon, I would agree with everyones tactical viewpoints and as an army soldier I understand where your coming from. However 40k is not really a tactical painting game, the brits learned long ago it was a bad idea to walk around in red cloaks, but the blood angels(and others) still parade around in thier red armor. and the space marines are supposed to have a great grasp of tactics, on the other hand you are all correct, otherwise I will do the base on the next one and maybe go with a white rifle(as I am planning on doing a snow theme).
About the armor, I went with blue for a few reasons.
No. 1 Altiaoc uses blue armor and it is Altiaoc.
No. 2 If I did the whole armor in a grey camo scheme it would maybe be tactically better but it wouldnt look very good IMO, and as much as I want to be tactiacally sound I also want to eventually win best painted with this army and an entire grey camo scheme just wont cut it, no matter how good it is.
No. 3 As a soldier, the army might issue new uniforms for warzones(occasionally), but I really cant see any 40k army repainting thier armor plates for what might amount to a few weeks of fighting chaos on a snow covered world. Thats why you still see the previously mentioned blood angels in thier red armor all the time. Even if they could repaint the armor and not have to issue new armor, it would still be a serious waste of time and resources, not to mention that it might be only a day or 2 forewarning before they know where and when they are going.
Thank you for all of the input, I will certainly use it on the next version which probably wont be out for a while as I want to work on my warhound and then maybe some IG. Any more input is always appreciated. Thanks again.
