This is a 'pure' DH army. No Allies, so maybe less whining? lol

Game 1, Eldar vs DH.

He was running:

Eldrad.
Maugen Ra.
1 Seer Council.
1 Unit of Guardian Jetbikes.
2 Fire Prisms.
6 Rangers.
1 troops Wraithguard unit.
5 Dark Reapers.
1 Wave Serpent with BL.
1 Harlequin unit (the Banshees).

This is my buddy who had his Eldar stolen so I've contributed stuff to him to get him up and running again, thus the not-quite-tweaked army list. It's what he likes so...

His setup:

My setup:

My turn 1: He didn't do much but move and immobilize a LR.

Another shot of his first turn move.

This is his councils moving on on turn 1:

I think this was turn 2. I blew the guardian jetbikes away.

My moves on turn 2. I stayed more than 18" away from his board edge so the council couldn't zap a raider to death.

I didn't take pics of turn 3, but basically he moved his harlequins up (with fortune on).

K, harlies + fortune = dead anyway. That big gap in front of my flamers is where his harlies were.

The objectives were that nickel, and under my LR farthest away. Maugen Ra didn't control, and my troops closest to the pic were scoring (from the crusader near the hill). The crusader in the wood contested his controlled objective. So I had 1 objective to his none, +2 battle points for a 13 - 8 victory.

A good game. I learned to stay inside my damn transports. lol I also re-learned that Wraithguard are AP2 now and not nearly as scary.

I lost 1 wrecked, 1 destroyed, and 2 immobilized LR's--from 2 fire prisms and wraithguard that fired once. lol Fire Prisms rocked my world. The one 'lascannon' shot from the prism once I killed it's twin-linking S10 AP1 friend, hit AND rolled a 6 then a 5. Boom.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

[EDIT]: Nope. Appears I'm wrong. I guess the mass of Land Raiders all blurred into one and I didn't realise that there were 7, and you can take 7 in a standard list.

I don't know why you would - I can't see anything about this army being fun, especially when you know it has a built in 'Win' button - but it is possible.

I'm guessing there are no FOC restrictions for these games.

That makes sense. For a second there I nearly shat trying to figure out how he did it on one DH FOC. (though he could have taken 3 Heavy LRs, then an Inq Lord w/ LR, 3 Inqs with LR, and then put his troops in the Heavy LRs)

Actually, that's what he did. It's in the army list section. DH can pack quite a few Land Raiders.

I love this list. I must own it. I think I'll even model a Win button on my lead LR.

Good lord. That list is "pure" alright. And the extra-realistic way in which the guardian jetbikes are going back and forth in front of his army as if it were a game of Space Invaders to give the army cover saves...

I know there currently isn't a good comp system, but no-comp I think is worse, but thats just my opinion. Some of you guys should just play Magic, its probably cheaper, you don't have to paint anything, if you are good at it, you can even win some money

However, to be fair, this was the Ard Boyz tourney. Bring a legal list and it is all about Battle Points, no army comp, sportsmanship or painting. It's not for everyone, but it is nice to have some different style tourneys available.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Yeah the Ard Boyz is all about bringing the most dirty list you can think up. Comp has nothing to do with this tournament.

GBF, hate to pretty much agree with stelek here, but you dont play in ard boyz to lose, anything goes aslong as its legal.
hence why im starting a wagon / kopta spam list.

JD did you read my post? I was by no means knocking his list. As I said comp has no place in this style of tournament.

'Ard boys was my second official tournament I've played at and I've got to say that the pure 'gaminess' of it holds much more appeal than the composition/sportsmanship bs of other classic tournament styles.

And people cried when I fielded 3 LRs (not to mention 6 Ven Dreads)...

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

I was not aware that DH could take landraider crusaders... that's something important for me to remember in the future!

That is pretty damned funny to see all in one place. You need to paint "Where Are Your Filthy Gods Now, Heretic!?" on them, one word per landraider, and deploy so it spells it out.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling, which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse. The person, who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
