OMG that color scheme is awsome! The head & torso for Defiler looks very familiar did you get an idea from an Iron maiden cover or maybe some movie or something I can't think of being I should be asleep by now. The only think I can think of when I see your army is "Decay".

3 main points from me.

1: Use some source lighting as some of the pics can't be made out (especially the tac marines which I'd love to see ranked up)

2: You have to let us know how you did the paint scheme. Probably the most nurgle scheme I've yet seen.

3: Love the use of the FW IG renegade parts. Brilliant.

Hope to see more of this army soon.

Now Nurgle has to change it's motto:
Rot, pestilence, and decay.
Oh yeah, and oxidation!
hahaha
Seriously though, these look GREAT! I love the rust effect and that plague tower is AWESOME.
The soulgrinder is a great piece of work too.
Very Nurgle-ey
Even if it is all vile chaos filth

My only suggestion is to destroy those mold lines. Other than that they are a nice change of pace from the Nurgle norm.

I think this has just sold the ''impressionist'' style to me. Great stuff. John Blanche does a similar sort of style, which I'll have to try.

I really should be spending my time more constructively.

I'm not really a fan of the normal Nurgle look, but your stuff is amazing! The Rhinos are really really good, they look like they've been out in the (acid?) rain for years. The Marines are very nice, although the one that you have his bolter held up on his shoulder needs a magazine for his bolter, the standard chaos hanging shells look a lil odd pointing straight up. My only other thought is there are still a lot of mod lines on the termies particularly on the cables for the arms. Really looking forward to seeing what you do from here!

THanks guys.

Ill add a tutorial when I get my droppods. Til then I have a tut here for makin them look chipped and weathered.

step one.

Find the model, heres my rhino i found in a box of old crap. it will be reborn.

Now you paint it whatever color you want the damage to be, in my case I do a reddish brown as mine is representing rust. You can do metallics er whatever you may want.

K, now comes the really icky part. I cant believe it says to spread this on toast and eat it..blluggh. anyways get some marmite, and some kinda applicator. As you can see my applicator is a pencil with an old sponge zip tied to it.

Now apply it, in places you want the damage to be shown.

Paint it the color you want the model to be, in my case I use a kind of rotting flesh look. Let it dry, very important.

Fill up your sink with warm water and some dish soap, and send it to the depths.

Let it sit for a while, i usually give it about 10-15 minutes.

Pull it out and start going to town on it with a toothbrush. Scrub all the marmite off and it will reveal the paint below.

and viola, there you be.

Well, ain't that damned slick! I am a little horrified that that stuff is for eating, but it fits Papa Nurgle's plan pretty well How long does it take to dry before you can paint over it?

Great thread so far man, really top notch. Those modified marines are just the best Nurgle marines I can remember seeing in a long time, maybe ever. Can you pop them next to a normal fellow for scale?

It doesnt really need to dry I just splotch it on, spray it and then soak it off.

Marmite as a modelling aid, sheer genius and yes, the corrosion look is very original (for now, think you've set a new trend ) Really nice to see metal decaying like that and perfectly adaptable (if toned down) to alot of imp guard stuff.

You.. you just... You just totally flabbergasted me. marmite painting. Genius. May I ask how you got the idea?

As for the rest: Second (or sixth or whatever) the praise of your use of the FW renegades to create Marines. The proportions are really, really cool. Could you please post a pic of them next to a conventional Marine if you get the chance to do so?

Also, what bitz did you use for the Termie heads? I love the blind bell helmets. Are those Krieg heads with GS over the upper face, or some other bit? And did you just insert the heads?

Finally, I join the crowd waiting with baited breath for the rust painting tutorial. Your method blows the GW method (published in the Ogre Kindoms-era WD articles) out of the water. What base color are you using for the reddish brown?

Ooh- one more thing. I like the looted Arbites tank among the Rhinos. That could make a convincing Damocles in Apocalypse if you wanted it to.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Well heres some updates, with a scale shot for all to see. As for a tutorial it will be a little bit as I dont have any models to rust, all my tanks are rusted and so is my baneblade. if anyone has a model that they wanna donate ill gladly do it. if not Ill be gettin drop pods in the next month er so.

The termies are DKOK torsos from the calvary models that I converted to be a bike squad, but on horses.

My rust is a wash I have made from many different things I dont use paints but pigments and dirt.

The rust is just awesome. Did you just paint it on, or did you use a masking fluid? like that latexy stuff you paint on and then paint over and peel off? the look you have on that baneblade is the same thing I'm after for my chaos tanks too

London.

Great work, and a very well conveyed method. Simple and clear; top marks all round.

A word on the washes; are they inks with chalks? I've come across various methods with hyperdetailing on WW2 Panzers etc but yours looks different.

All the best with the project.

I really should be spending my time more constructively.
