Why would he have fuel tanks instead of a back?

That is going to need a metric tonne of Green Stuff before it looks good. If you can GS it, though, it would probably look pretty cool.

One of the defining characteristics of SM scouts is that they don't have power armor yet. I think adding that chest, while looking nice, isn't the right way to go with this.

You might be better off simply using carapace armored IG, with the appropriate weapons. Such as bolt pistol/sword, shotgun, bolter, ect. There is another thread on here where someone cut the waist out of a scout and used a thin piece of plasticard to make them taller. Doing this might go the extra little bit ot make the IG look bigger and more marine like.

with those simple modifications I think that once painted, they could pass for scouts quite well.

I think the combination of Cadian helmet and high-collared chestplate looks great. The flamer backpack doesn't mesh too well with it, though. Perhaps the normal back of the armor, minus the generator backpack, would work? (I haven't built any marines, so I'm not really sure if the pack is separate. Removing it would make it clear that this armor isn't powered, though.)

Ok, here's an alternative then - one I really should have thought of before, since I'm doing it do so many guardsmen right now.

Cover the backs with cloaks. They're fairly easy to make from putty (faiIing that, I think there are some plastic ones on some fantasy elf troops). If shaped right (bulging in the back, probably wrapped around over the shoulders toward the front), they'll hide the fact that the back of the armor is missing. From what I remember, normal scouts tend to have cloaks anyway.

Good idea but a back would be better than the tanks other than thatt great model

Very Very nice. Just needs a new back, in my opinion.

And the High Coller looks great. Reminds me of the Battle Priests (Or whatever) from Warhammer Fantasy.

That and some bigger shoulder pads, you should also try giving him some armor on his legs...say a chin plate or a knee pad.

Good luck

I've done some experimenting with IG as SM Scouts. Mostly what you've done here, except that I don't put any back on. I use the older (variant) chests with no aquilla and the back pieces with the detail carved into them. At the hip, I put the usual IG bits - canteen, pouches, etc. to hid the spot where the armor sits on the hips. Catachan arms and legs with SM scout heads to finish.

It's okay, I guess, but I'm not entirely sold on the look so I haven't converted an entire squad this way. Using this method to make Tau auxilleries on the other hand gives you some pretty cool conversions.
