Grovelin' Grot Rigger
|
So after owning two armies of 2000pts and not actually painting them all. I decided to get another army to cheer me up.
Chaos Warriors. The new guys just look awsome and I have worked myself out a nice 3000pt army that consists of a Back story of two lords. Siskus and Wesa Urlfsson One a Lord of Khorne (I want the Guy on the Juggernaut) and One a Lord of Nurgle (I wanted the normal Chaos Lord too!)
So today i started painting my Chaos Warriors....the Nurgle ones.
I had a rough idea of how I wanted the armour to look and their overall look. And here it is as a work in progress.
Although I feel something is missing. Have you guys got any tips on highlighting these beasts?

I think he looks good, the only thing that bugs me on this model is white bone, I just can't stand it on any model. I always go for a more of a natural bone looks, not to mention you can't highlight white.

The white bone is likely the final highlight you are seeing...
And natural colours often don't work when painting models as thing must be changed in order to be seen at 28mm size.
I think the guy looks great

Unfortunately, the way you've taken the photo doesn't help as it looks incredibly light. I would say that by making the green/brown darker in it's base colour, the highlights will stand out more.

Like i said he was a work in progress haha His shield is being painted now. And as for the white. Yeh sorry its the bad flash of my cam its actually bleached bone, washed with Badab Black then highlighted again with Bleached bone.
So do you think he needs more work or shall I leave him like that?
Im not happy with the horns. I need someone to show me how to paint horns.

Looks very good, I like the weathered effect on his armor. Post more pics.

This picture looks better than the first - less flash effect. Seriously though, how did you get that brownish green? Looks very cool and nurgley.

involved alot of layering.
Undercoat Black
Started out with a mix. Mixed bleached bone and goblin green and a little chaos black. Turned out actually like camo green (But I didnt have that colour).
Used Bestial Brown with an old brush which i cut the tip off to give it a flat surface I stippled it on in random places. (gave it more of a dirty look)
Wash with Devlan Mud,
Wash with Badab Black.
Then mixed Boltgun Metal with a tiny bit of chaos black and stippled a few small areas to bring out a little metal. (Because it looked a bit plastic without it. And I dont want plastic looking armour)
Thats about it.
I will post more pics up when they are finished. I just need to get hold of some Tamiya Clear paints and some basing material.
