Thanks to minus1mod.com and Philbrad for these pictures of new Tau stuff taken at this years UKGD

Looks promising, i have heard no news on this from anywhere, just that they are a possibility

Edit: Changed the title. These are preproduction resins. Definitely not plastics.

Woah, I wasn't expecting THAT. And it's only been, what, three or four years since the codex? The Ethereal actually looks geared for combat. A bit too much so... maybe it's a new Shas'ui model?

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Actually, they look like they are molded in resin, which is what the master copies are molded in first. They don't mean one way or another whether or not they will be metal or plastic.

The infantry all look like pathfinders, and the one labeled as an "Ethereal" looks to be the pathfinder shas'ui.

The Farsight looks horrible, and I can't tell if his legs really are stubby, or if he is going down on one knee.

I'm pretty sure we had a thread about this a while ago, and it turned out they were models made by new sculptors to see if they could correctly sculpt the "feel" of 40k, with some tau models I guess.

You mean no one else noticed these pictures when they were posted ages ago?

The original thread in Warseer dates from the 15th of September.

EDIT: They have a small tab under their feet which generally indicates they'll be cast in metal. Plastic figures with that size usually have plain round bases, not the slottable ones.

That's the way I remember it, too.

It's strange how often the same pictures keep popping up as "news" over and over.

I'll only worry when someone posts, "Hey guys, I saw this posted over at Dakka and thought I'd share!"

Otherwise I don't always mind the re-post/re-fresher.

I don't remember any posts on Dakka about new Tau plastics.

As a Tau player I normally take notice of such posts.

These look like finished mouldings to me, not green sculpts that have been painted.

It makes sense to have plastic Pathfinders, they are fairly popular.

Farsight is a plastic suit anyway with some metal bits added, as are the Broadsides. Perhaps GW may be finding it cost-effective to make a plastic sprue to cover the Broadside and Farsight extra bitz.

Wishful thinking? I've always disliked the weighty metal additions to the Broadside so I would be glad if they did a sprue for the bitz.

These pictures have been floating on Warseer for almost 2 months now. Apparently they are not new Tau but are the test sculpts from one of GW's new sculptors or something...

The funny thing is, the very first Broadsides had plastic guns and rocket launchers, sadyl they never made it from test run to final product.

I like those better than the current ones myself. Heck, my plans for a Tau army would have me converting Fire Warriors into Pathfinders because I dislike the poses of the current ones.

And that Farsight? Too cool.

Me too. My broadsides always break at the ankles from the weight of the SMS and railguns. Also, LOVE the Farsight model. I spent a month converting and painting mine, but would still order this one if given the chance. Man, I've got a serious weakness for Tau...

I would buy Tau if there were models like this. I dislike the current troops not for their design, but for their static poses.

Resin test model = metal.

Which is irrelevant if they're not going to be released anyway

There's already a full set of metal Pathfinders, except for a hero Shas'ui.

Already did. Plus I Used burst cannon barrels to give the legs hydraulics (I count them as my Advanced Stabilization system.) It's helped, but I still end up with breakages from time to time.

Do we know why? Tau players would buy these things - specifically the Farsight and that Tau Commander on foot - in an instant if they were released.
