Hi,

Wanted to show my scheme for cryx. Its build basically orkhide with a few washes to make it dark. the metal is chainmail with a wash or 2 and some areas with a bit of brazen brass. The bone is a base of bestial brown. Then a bit bone added to the brown. Then bleached bone. Next wash a wash with gryphon sepia. then as a final highlight bleached bone with skull white. (never painted bone this extensively, but it works excelent IMHO...

comment and critiques are welcome. I hope you all like...

Hi, Shameless bump. I know warmachine isn't the most popular game on the block, but some comment might be nice, even just a feel good comment as looking good, or nice one

Looks nice and clean.

You could add some corrosion and rust to the metal parts as the cryx jack aren't known for their cleanness.

The necritite parts would look better with some glow added.

How are you going to finish the base?

Looks fine, get some additional jacks and corpses painted and show us the pics.

I think its pretty cool. I like the green there on the back.

@ Metsuri: I will try and add some rusteffects later on. For now I want to make them relatively clean and experiment with rust later.

How would I go about getting that glow?? I have done the following to the green (and it does look a bit better in person, but nor really glowy...) Started with gobbo green. Then mixed in some bone and touched half of the gobbo-green area. Added more bone and again half ofg the area I did with the second layer (top). then added skullwhite for the final highlight and hit half of the third layer.

@ squig Herder: Necrons, really?? Did not make that resemblance in any way myself... But wait till you see the slayer and/or nightmare. Then you will see they are very different to necrons

I like the head, I would suggest washing the body with some ink to "dirty it up".

Glad to see some other WM fans though!
I have around 2K pts in Cryx myself.

Sharp, clean, and evil looking. Nice work.

So you have painted the glow as a gem, but the glow should be coming from the center of the jack not from a reflection of light which is why your jack doesn't look 'right'. The correct placement of the light will help some, then you could use yellow as the highlight color to get more saturated green.

The last thing to help in gaining good looking glow is to add object source lightning. Look at this article from brushthralls for brief description.

Your bone chicken is looking fine at the moment, these are just enhancement ideas.
