My buddy just had a baby girl and I was looking for that perfect gift to say "Congratulations, but in a girly baby way..."

I decided the best present for a father that has a sinister Crimson and Black Imperial army with lots of Lightning Claws should be a 40K miniature, and since the birth came around the time of the new Space Marine release, what better model than Shrike. I also wanted the painting to reek of girlitude and baby-escience. Hence, the following abomination...

The flying stand. That can't be comfortable.

Yeah, the idea behind the flying stand is I am going to write something on there, like the kid's name and birthday or something commemerative. I didn't figure I'd share that part with everyone, also I am putting that part off cuz I know I'm going to mess it up. I also coated it with a fairly thick coat of Polycrylic to make it look like it was iced and even less hardcore than previously possible with just pastel colors.

It's a hybrid of Doctor Thunder's girl-marines and ialdabaoth's Soul-Defiler.

great modelling -penis, im ok, with boobs and the like if it fits the fluff but whats with this onslaught of penis and other other worldly models? a penis does not fit the fluff, if it did i would have nothing against it but it has no place!! none!

If you are scared of messing up the flying stand the easiest thing to do would be a simple date.
You could possibly get away with just the year!!!!
Use decals or a fine pen.

That's a good idea, since I play Tau and Shrike didn't come with any decals I'll have to find some Space Marine (or another army's) decals that have actual numbers. I am also starting to think maybe the best color for the flying stand is not flesh pink... just a hunch but it seems people may be making the wrong connections possibly leading to very subtle hints at Phallic undertones.

thats pretty cool man. total high 5 for being a cool enough friend to do somthing like that for your buddy. trust me ive done similar things for friends in the past, when it comes to gifts because of kids they ALWAYS are touched by the thought.

He looks like a mint from a wedding reception. But nice execution on the painting. Not the easiest colors to use.

Definitely going to be changing the stand, thinking about a wire located somewhere other than the crotchal region.

This is a perfect choice to paint those colors. I always felt when I saw Shrike in one of his flamboyantly indulgent gay-battle poses that he might prefer the company of men.

Great work. But seriously, in regards to the penis stand - what were you thinking? LOL. It's so funny how wrapped up in the work we get sometimes that we fail to see such obviously awful modeling choices.

The paintwork is very good, the penis is very large but the colours don't do anything for the model!!!
