A little more care on the grenades and sergeant stripes on the thigh, and perhaps give him some eyes, but apart from that, not too bad IMHO

Yeah, I guess so. I went for just a quick drybrush for the grenades so...
I really do love the model though. one of the few models that really looks kick ass.

1. The paint looks too thick, especially on the armor. Try to mix in more water.
2. Use watered down inks for the face and uniform.
3. The eyes really add depth to the whole mini. Try to paint the eyes before you paint anything else. Then, you can clean the area up later.
4. Your metallics look very incomplete. I would recommend painting the entire area with boltgun metal (see nade on your model, above) then inking it, then drybrushing it.

Overall a good start, main thing is to keep your paints watered down. Good luck and remember, practice makes perfect.

like marko- said above.. on the smaller things need more water in the mix... I water down all my paint at least 1:1 (water =more coats for coverage but= smoother finish) other than those little things, AWESOME job!

Hmmm... Paints are definitly too thick, thanks.
More attention to metal...
Inks... I use Washes, badab black and devian mud.
Eyes? how do I do them good without ruining the model? I can do visors and lenses, but eyes?

Do you have a cat? What I do for eyes is I wait for a whisker to fall out (don't go plucking...lol) and use the end for their eyes. Its small and fairly firm. Plus they don't absorb alot of paint so what you put on the whisker is going on the model.

If you do not have a cat you can whittle down a toothpick. This works but wood absorbs paint to be careful as you will have to load it a bit more than the whisker.

Eyes:

Many different ways to do them. Here is what I do:
1. Basecoat face with dwarf/ Elf flesh mix.
2. Paint eye area black
3. Using basecoat mixture clean up any black overspill.
4. Finish face (including inks and highlights).
5. Paint eye area white leaving a VERY small area around the eye black.
6. Take smallest brush I own and make a small point with black for the pupil.

-Washes are a good start. Remember to go back over the metal area with a good drybrush after you apply the wash.

The grenades will clean up nicely after a good wash and a light drybrush to highlight. Remember that highlights should be minimal, just enough to draw attention to the highest/most prominent surfaces. Looks good, keep at it!
