I just started to throw some quick paint on him after converting him up, trying to get a picture of how he would look. I know the paint is pretty rough, but I wanted some opinions before I started painting him up much more.

I was thinking about making the KFF a light source and adding some glow to him. Most likely in a bluish green color. The idea is that the flamer is powered by the energy used by the KFF, and actually shoots out a plasma rather than fire, so I will probably add the same coloring to the flamer bit on the end.

What colors would look good for the cabling? What can I do to make the metal bits look interesting other than just throw a wash on them to dirty them up?

I'm going to grass flock the bottom of the base, as well as fill the area under the Eldar bit with something to make it look like the piece has crashed into the ground.

Let me know what you think.

firstly.... DAMMIT another red ork army. i swear i thought red skinned orks would be original but im starting to see more RED! ARRGG!!!
anywho, for the metal, you could put some copper or brass dry brush on um and THEN wash it to dull them. that makes metal look a bit rusty and worn, which just screams ORK!
the cables i say who cares paint them something bright and that would look like a cable color other then black(black cables are boring)
I can tell you I worked in cable install for awhile and some of the cables were bright orange, bright yellow with a black stripe. theres a few ideas for ya.
also i like your "plasma flamer" idea. and why not those things are PW in CC anyways so whos gunna argue when your slicing and dicing good luck and post more pics when your farther along

Wots dis then?!

a RED Ork! Dat's not proppa at all!

however, while Red's not a proppa skin tone imho, that monstrous machine he's got there is. I do agree with KingCracker's metal painting tips and go for the Yellow and Black industial strips for the cables! They're a hoot!
