In Episode 21 we interview Ross Watson, senior RPG Developer at Fantasy Flight Games and the man responsible for the future of the Warhammer 40,000 roleplaying game "Dark Heresy". Ross talks about his position at FFG and what the future holds for the game.

In response to listener requests, the D6G team list what they consider "must own games" for any gamer. Get an idea of what Raef, Russ, and Craig's favorites are, as well as gift ideas for the holiday season.

This epsiode also features the world premier of the D6 Generation's first "Not Too Horrible" hit single. Of course, we're using the term 'hit single' very loosely.

All that and our usual 'not too horrible' humor, with features such as:

- When Wives Attack
- Rapid Fire
- The Hollywood Minute
- Contests
- Words from Wales
- & More

The christmas song was truly masterly!

What is TI, though? Twilight Imperium?

EDIT: Oh, it is spelled out in the first verse. Twilight Imperium it is. Not a very fun board game if you ask me.

BTW: I played the song for Louise and she though Karen (or is it Nicole) was singing "Playing with my nipples" and wondered if that was common practice in your gaming group.

It's Texas Instruments, Russ has been a dedicated collector of vintage calculators since the mid 80s.

You should listen to his original podcast, the TIGeneration. It's very good, and suitable for non-vintage calculator enthusiasts also.

Did Ross really list TMNT(Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) on his rap sheet of RPGs? I loved that game. And anyone who's liked Deadlands is okay in my book. Deadlands is my Serenity Craig.

A thoroughly enjoyable podcast! Loved the song! Good crack with Ross - interesting to hear his perspective on GW's FAQ support (or lack of). Even Words from Wales wasn't too horrible, Owen (j/k - in the season of good cheer, even the Welsh should be free from approbation!). Nice wifely input from the girls. All good stuff!

Many thanks and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all!

Cheers

As usual, this podcast was great! I loved the Ross Watson interview and am very excited about the new Dark Heresy books.

Congrats Owen on your victory over the Aussies.

Oh did anyone think Deadwood ended a bit too abruptly?

Listening right now, and the interview with Ross is phenomenal... I've never played an RPG, but DH sounds pretty cool, even as just a background and fluff book.

EDIT: Am I the only one that noticed the bass on the TerranScapes ad was really off, and Russ's usually mellifluous voice made horrible thumpings in my headset.

It might be time to re-record the TerranScapes ad. I did that some time ago for them, and our equiptment and techniques have improved since.

When I was listening to your Christmas song as one point I thought: I wonder how many takes it took them to get this right (that's the editor in me)?

So your bonus clip at the end of the podcast had me laughing out loud, especially Karen (I think it was her) saying "I can't take it!".

How many takes/how much time did it take to finish?

Let's just say it took more than one 'session'. Although we had a blast doing it.

Hi, loved the Dark Heresy interview, but was kind of surprised that Ross was also on The Games the Thing saying the exact same things (only much shorter & not as in-depth). Is the guy on a “speaking tour” or something?

I know interviews can be broadcast months after they were recorded, & I’m sure there’s no “master podcasting calendar” to know what other shows are doing, but it was just a bit weird to have both of your podcasts be posted within a week of each other. While the Games the Thing is a great show, in this case, it can be completely skipped since your interview hit everything they covered & way more.

For the song, I'm more curious how many margaritas it took?

Remember, remember, the Dalek December
With Paris in ruins and London in ember
In times of the future when fears are abating
Don’t try to forget them, the Daleks are waiting
Quietly planning and scheming and hating…

I think the podcast 'circuit' is starting to work like the TV talk show circuit. For example, when a new blockbuster movie comes out, say Indiana Jones, suddenly Harison Ford is on every talk show in America talking about his life and ... oh by the way... that new movie in the theaters.

That's because his publicity guy (and the movie studio guys) call the shows and say "how would you like to have Ford on your show?"

Well, that's sort of what happened here. Ross contacted us, said he liked our interview with Corey, and would love to come on at talk about what he does and the new Dark Heresy stuff. We said SURE.

I'm sure we're not the only podcast he talked to.

I'm glad to here you enjoyed our chat with him. And I bet we're the only show that brought up the German porn artist issue.

It's that kind of in-depth reporting that your audience values you for. You're not afaid to get your hands dirty going elbows-deep into the issues.

Yup. No matter what, the D6 generation will give that extra push to get inside places other podcasters don't. You really plunge head first into the topics, and probe around for all the answers.

Hello, Ive been following D6 for a while, it makes long flights much more bearable. I enjoyed episode 21 a geat deal, but I have a request. Would you, please, post your list of the 3 games that a gamer should own? It would make a handy reference when discussing possible gifts with the wife
Keep up the fine work and Merry Christmas!

Hey, Santiagoul.

Mine were Cutthoat Caverns, Battlestar Galactica, and Uncharted Seas.

I can't remember much of the others', except I know Russ had a MINIMUM of 9, including Battlestar, and Raef had Dungeons and Dragons.

For further clarification they'll have to comment themselves.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Hey, folks! We put our new Not-So-Horrible hit to video on YouTube now!

Check it out here:

http://www.thed6generation.com/index.php?post_id=413841

There's been some confusion amongst the production crew, and as of right now, 12:48 Eastern US time on Sunday, December 21st, the version we have up is not the FINAL version. Some of the images are blurry, not our first choices, and we initially left off our list of unwitting co-conspirators. But the new one will be up today, hopefully, given the full blown blizzard that is the latest foot Mother Nature has seen fit to drop on us here in the North-East of the good ole US of A.

But definitely check out the video. It adds a whole new level of entertainment value to the song.

And you can all start complaining about what I put in for "Avoiding a Cheesy Army" each verse!

Enjoy!

Honestly, the Warriors of Chaos snuck in there by accident. I think the newest version fixed that, but I'm not sure.

It was supposed to be Legion of Everblight >
