I'm finishing up 2 more squads of DA vets+(the other) DA heads to make Adeptus Custodeus, AKA the SOLID GOLD space marines.

(count as Grey Knights)

In the past I used chaos warriors (gotta love the capes) but the dress-wearing marines are so much more flexible in poses and modeling.

I like 'em, the Terminator especially!

But the Eldar-headed Goldies look a little "thin" to me. But I suppose this kind of makes more sense fluff-wise, since power armour is meant to make heads look like grapes. Still, I can't get over them. Maybe add some targeter gubbins to bulk them out?

My very first army!

I experimented with adding the crests to marine helmets but they looked even worse. So until plastic Custodeus come out these will have to do.

KK when do you paint? You have a kitbashing bug in your bed?

M.

PS: The basic marines look good, not so sure about the leaders

Jenkins: You don't have jurisdiction here!
Smith Jamison: We aren't here, which means when we open up on you and shred your bodies with automatic fire then this will never have happened.

I like it a lot. I particularly like the flintlock weapons. Gives them a proper look.

Man, that's the joy of Anime! To revel in the complete and utter wastefullness of making an unstoppable nuclear-powered combat andriod in the shape of a cute little girl, who has the ability to fall in love and wears an enormous bow in her hair.

Very cool Kid. I really like all of them except for the 3rd Solid Gold one. Holding his weapon straight out with a sword in the other hand. It is very hard to hold a weapon out straight like that for any period of time so I have never been a fan of those poses. As good as you are at conversions you might (and this is just a suggestion - to each his own) tweek it a little? Other than that looks awesome!

Those are dreadnought shin-guards. Great stuff, as always, KK. I'm a big fan of the DA heads on the marines for your Solid Goldies.

I love this idea, but the Eldar heads really though me off from them being true Imperial. I wonder what the Eldar crests would look like on Space Marine heads. It'd be a bit of greenstuff work, but could be neat. Just throwin out ideas!

Very nice work, and thanks for the "inspiration" using the dress wearers as the base for Custodes. I've been looking at how to more easily do them, and this is great!

Oh, and how are you doing the shoulders for the Pre-heresy terminators? I've been thinking of using plasticard, but I see you use plastic bits? Where are they from?

I used plasticard but found it too thin. The leg guards from a DA Ravenwing sprue are just about perfect fits. Warstore has them for $1.50 for a pair, not cheap but not terrible either.

They are growing on me. They work pretty good, actually, especially considering how they are painted and how aggressive/ large the models are.

Awesome, that's perfect as I'm doing pre-heresy Dark Angels. These the right ones? http://www.thewarstore.com/product26808.html If so I'll be ordering about 10 pairs to do my Termie Assault Squad.

Yep that's them!

Question for the peanut gallery, does the flintlock work as a psycannon or should I go with a pimped assault cannon instead?

I like them, especially the terminator shoulder pads, very creative and easy way to make pre-heresey terminators. The robed head looks good as a squad leader, but I don't like the robed helmet as I do not think that a custodes would wear a helmet other than his traditional tall one. The flintlocks look to me like they would better represent one of those special inquisitor guns that shoots silver bullets or stakes or whatever, something more solid would better represent the heavy, high rate of fire weapon that a psycannon is imo.

Awesome, I'll be ordering some up then. And the assault cannon one works much better than the flintlock. And I think the hooded helmets work for squad leaders myself.

Nice work, KK!

Tho, the hooded heads don't really work in this army... More pointy heads would do better to match.

Plus, you need a screaming baldie to lead the whole thing!
