Updated and better pictures.

My Greater daemon conversions... both are keeepers of secrets... the blue one broke while taking the picture... so I am fixing it... but here is the pic anyway. (I can also use the blue one as a lord of change)

yea, I'll take more pics tonight. I have to get rid of the yellow... I will also take pics of the daemonettes i painted up using Maxxim's painting guide and my two Greater Daemons.

Any suggestions on how to paint "writhing souls" on the black flat panels?

Diggin the soul grinder fo sho!
The only beef I have (with the actual model not your painting) is the all too defined distinction between demon fleshyness and Machine. I think the model could use some more fleshing out where machine meets demon so they look more entwined, as a posed to looking like a demon stuck on top of a defiler..
But can't fault the painting on the grinder man...looks bad a$$

how about the paint technique. What else could I add to the actual style of painting in order to improve?

i think the gold is a bit flat, some highlighting would really help, or perhaps a wash, all in all, its looking good

I don't really think the gold is that flat... but thats only in the photos. But for arguments sake, how do you highlight a metallic gold paint? I used burnished gold on my grinder, and shining gold on my daemonettes

1) base black
2) mechrite red
3)wash with baal red X2
4) dry brush blood red
5) wash with baal red
6) dry brush 50/50 mix blazing orange and blood red
7) light dry brush fiery orange
