Google Image Search is your friend!
http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=Great+Unclean+One&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2
There's some great reference there, of particular awesomeness is the Forge World Great Unclean One, a really great model.
Delfabs, that's a good start, but I would first recommend getting some Super Sculpey, or possibly Sculpey Firm. Personally, I mix the two of them together for the consistency I want. It looks like you are using regular white Sculpey or perhaps regular air-dry modeling clay. Super Sculpey of one variety or another is a great sculpting medium and it won't dry out on you too fast like air-dry clays will.
I would wait to pay attention to the details and such of the GUO, like his entrails and such, until after you get the basic body structure correct.
You'll want to use a armature - a wire skeleton - for the model you're making to give it extra strength. I don't know if you did that here, but if you did not I don't think your model will hold up to much punishment. Also, since the GUO is such a massive figure I would make the majority of his core out of tin foil, compacted down tight. This will save you weight and clay and will cure well when you need to bake the super sculpey to harden it.
A solid start so far! But I would use this one as a learning excercise, go get yourself some different clay, and try again with the reference in the link there. With sculpting, the more you do the better you can get.

delfabs wrote:hello im sculpting a great unclean one for my army and i neeed some inspiration could people post some pictures of their great unclean ones Interesting post, but it needs punctuation and capitalization. It should probably look something like this: delfabs wrote:Hello, I'm sculpting a great unclean one for my army and I need some inspiration. Could people please post some pictures of their great unclean ones? The main changes I've made here are the capitalizing of letters, namely the first letter in each sentence, and the word 'I'. I accomplished this feat by holding down the shift key while pressing the letter which I wanted to be capitalized. The other main change I made was that I added a few of what we call punctuation marks. This: . is a period, which is used for indicating the end of a sentence which is not a question. It can made by simply pressing the key with a small dot on it. The same key also has this symbol: > on it, but that's more advanced and you don't need to worry about it. If you press the key, it won't make that symbol, don't worry. The other main symbol was this: , which is a comma. It indicates a slight pause in a sentence, and is made by pressing the key which has a comma on it. Again, this key also has a different symbol on it, but you don't need to worry about it. I also added this symbol: ' which is used in place of the letters that are removed when forming a contraction, such as I'm, which is a contraction of "I am." The last thing I added was a question mark; ? which is simply used to indicate that the sentence it is placed at the end of is a question. It is made by holding down shift while pressing the key which has these two symbols: ? and / on it. If you do not hold down shift then it will make the other symbol; /, which is called a slash. Don't worry about that. I also corrected your spelling of need, which you spelled with one extra e, making it neeed. I also couldn't help but notice that the title of your post is written entirely in capital letters. While it is nice to see that you know how to make capital letters, as this indicates that you are well on your way to using proper punctuation, it is entirely the wrong use for them. Capital letters should never be used together in large quantities, as this is annoying to other users who are not Arctik_Firangi, and if you do it too much a homosexual dressed as a death-cult assassin will come to your house and cut off your head with two swords at once, doubling the pain of losing your head. smart_alex wrote:Looks like what's left in my toilet after being a vegetarian for a week. minus the sword. It is also interesting to note that Smart_alex evidently doesn't flush his toilet very often, although this not strictly related to the rest of my post. Grammar Trolls: We are on your internet, correcting your grammar. And while I'm here, nice sculpt and paint job, it's good to see more people sculpting stuff. Thanks for posting.

It's better to simply be an idiot, as no one can call you on it here. -H.B.M.C.
Cap'n Gordino's instant grammar guide:
"This is TOO expensive." "I'm going TO the store, TO get some stuff."
"That is THEIR stuff." "THEY'RE crappy converters."
"I put it over THERE." "I'll go to the store THEN."
"He knows better THAN that." "This is NEW." "Most players KNEW that." |

Did you give it a basecoat or 5 to create a layer to paint over or did you paint right onto the clay?

Well, it looks pretty huge for a start. That may be the "biggest" issue. Keep practicing your sculpting if it's something you're keen on - there are many different kinds of ugly in Warhammer, and you've definitely nailed some of them. A different medium would be a good start, but of course practice with the cheap stuff.
:S
Oh wait, Gordino has posted in this forum. And he trumped me already!
your been a jackass dood an youl needed to get sum toleraens becos i yoosed to wast mi tiem in foroms corekting peepul and yoo never reely get aniwere
But seriously, don't intimidate newcomers with over-worded nonsense. What makes you think he's even going to read that?
I wouldn't half mind if you could make your point in five or six lines. In fact, you did, but decided to waffle on like an undergrad anyway. You can be "right" without being anti-social. Good luck if this is how you generally introduce yourself.
Note that you misspelled my handle.

well for starters i sprayed it with orange spray on food coloring (i find it works very nicely on any white surface) then drybrushed black over all of it then used a 1:2 ratio of snot green and chos black then proceeded to do multiple layers of washes with every different brown paint that i have still needs alot of work to do on it sadly the sword broke off and when i try to paint the intestines they are poorly attached so they fall off so i have put some super glue on there to help them stay there
also i have removed all the mold lines from the original pictures with a dremel tool
hope to have him finsished before christmas
might get sidetracked by all the nnew stuff im getting
(possibly a chose warhound titan from forge world )
for people with any thoughts on doing a orange spacemarine or any thing of the sort i suggest pick up some spray on food colring and spray it on after using a white basecoat and it looks fantastic does all the shading for you just paint on the details and your ready to go

You really need some stiff wire in limbs and things like intestines. Clay is not very durable at all - the only things that help are an understructure, firing and glazing (which requires firing). Superglue will not be too good with unfired clay either.
The only thing I can suggest at this stage is trying a glaze/fire. If there are any air bubbles, there's always a chance it'll explode... but that's always cool, right?

From website: "Air-Dry Clay is similar to a porcelain clay body when wet and can be thrown on a potter’s wheel by intermediate and advanced students. However, it should never be fired in a kiln or painted with traditional glazes. " So that's a no. My experiences with air-dry clay have always been negative... never tried this brand. Some of them are strangely fibrous, others sort of bendy once dry... but still brittle.

@ captain.gordino
was that really necessary.
not everybodies grammar and use of periods will be perfect. this is, if you haven't noticed, a multicultural forum. not everybody's birthlanguage happens to be English.
I for one am from Belgium and speak Dutch, French, English and German but by no means will my grammar and even pronounciation be perfect.
as long as we can understand eachother, who gives a rat's @ ss about periods and question marks and where to find them.
live and let die.
