greetings Dakkites, I have somthing I want to share with you.

Death Guard were my second army for 40k. I started converting Marines with zombie parts and stuff like that and it was real fun. I also had a few demons, which always added something interesting to my list. Then Chaos 4.0 happened. If you need to know more about that, read a random post from H.M.B.C., I'm sure you'll find a line or two where he talks about it

Long story short, after a few games with the new book I decided that I it was terribly boring, with the generic lesser and not so lesser demons just being the nail in the proverbial coffin. I was looking forward to the demon book, just to learn that it was a stand-alone army whith no rules for combined forces or anything like that. Also, the only thing that was more boring than playing a god-specific list with the new Spikey Marine book, was playing a god-specific list with the Demon-book
Long story even shorter: I now play Chaos only in apocalypse games.

Which brings me to a special model. A fe months ago, the english pound dropped to about 75% of it's former worth, which was a great opportunity to order the Forge World Nurgle demon, a model I always wanted, but never wanted to afford.
I can't recall the last time I had so much fun painting a singel mdoel since.....well, bloody hell, I really don't know
It was acutally that much fun that I orderd 4 models from the FW renegade range and I plan to build myseld a Pleaguereaper soon. Any advice on that topic would be greatly appreciated.

The palette is very fitting for a Nurgle deamon and i really dig the differently colored areas and variety in green/ yellowish colors.

The only thing I can add is that the innards need some gloss varnish, for extra ick factor. Otherwise, it's awesome!

My least favorite part about all these amazing nurgle models we get to paint is how it's virtually impossible to show them off to non-hobby enthusiasts. No faster way to drive a woman off than to show off your newly painted Great Unclean One

I second the call for more glossy grossness on the appropriately glossy and gross locations (intestines, tongue, perhaps the horrifying boils, and so on)

Nice! I like the varied palette, which makes the vivid details on the beast pop (and which reminds us that Papa Nurgle delights in the rich diversity of the diseases his pets nurture).

Actually I did use a lot of gloss varnish, it seems it didn't show as well in the pictures I took during daylight. Maybe these are better.

my god those puss filled sores and all the festering blistering flesh... makes me GAG>...and feel REALLY uncomfortable! >< such a great job painting! looks so slimey and wet where you used the varnish....god..this damned thing looks disgusting! great job!

He is such a massive piece. It's really amazing how much FW likes to break the scale mold ^_-. Truely a GREAT unclean one.

I really like the job you've done here. Many people go with a lot of random feeling coloring and variations that don't really give you a very good understanding of the model, and really requires you to LOOK for the details in the mess. You've done a good job of keeping it simple yet still showing everything off.

One thing I would have tried to do would be to make the innards look more 'sickly' with off coloring possibly glazed with reds. The yellows on the sores and other wounds give a good putrid festering feel though, so it's not a bad balance act.

It's...it's...it's...big. Ugly. Disgusting. In the good sense of course Though I agree with Grey Death - the insides could look a bit mory sickly, rotting, etc. Though I really like the way you did it - definately does not look like just some paint slapped on. It's the paintjob is clean, bits that should stand out stand out, and the highlights/shades are great also.

Awesome paint job. I got a chance to see the actual FW GUO model this weekend and it was amazing. It really is an impressive model.

Awesome, awesome piece. Great detail, not just in painting, but in the construction details as well. Great Nurgle'd piece. I would be honored to be plagued by something like that. I'd probably want to keep my spine inside though...
