Hello everyone!

This commission has been a LONG time coming so what better way to send it off then with a WIP loggy that will show the scratch build from start to finish.

Ill try and keep it as updated as possible and not pull a WIP thread that by the 4th post is completed. Although, it may happen

First up will be the weapon arm. Its still very much WIP and needs alot of work but its taking shape. I plan to have alot more bass strings with the wires as well as some "armor wiring". Im also debating on adding smaller rivets all around it.



And yea, this is another commission for conversion corner.

So, will it be a Lord of battle that 'counts as' a warhound? Or do you mean a banelord? I'm liking the gatling cannon so far; will it be as close to the old epic version as possible, or is there some artistic license?

The client wants it to count as either a warhound or a Lord of Battle. Its going to be wayyy to small to be a Banelord.

Its going to be similiar to the original epic design but will have a more modern 40k feel. The old epic model had almost no detail besides a skull (which looks funny to me).

I havent decided if the barrels should "rotate" or if its a fixed weapon. Im open to any ideas.

It will be the only "gun" arm. The other will be a chain weapon.

Ive made the weapon abstract enough to count as any of the titan weapons or it can count as the Lord of Battle main gatling arm. Either way, he should'nt have to much of a problem for WYSIWYG.

Did a bit more work on the gun arm. Im out of town at the in-laws so my tools and supplies and rather limited. Ive been going with whats in my "travel hobby kit".

Looking nice, but how will you attach the arm? Or, maybe the correct question should be: how do you intend to build the body, since the original lord of battles didn't have a carapace to put the arm underneath. Or will it be a warhound torso mounted on tracks?

Im still debating on the body but right now think warhound with a lord of battle head and 2 arms. Other then those 3 things, its a warhound, legs, shoulders and all.

Unlike other warhounds ive made this one will have alot of GS, be possessed and also in a heavy running pose.

I've got an old white dwarf I was looking at the other day with the original sketches for Chaos Titan heads if you're interested.

I can post them up if it will help.

Well... the past few days have been very rough on me as some of you may know.. Depression is never a good thing, nor is Insomnia. As such, ive decided to focus that energy towards something that will at the same time, give me some closure on this whole ordeal.

Late last night, I had an idea. In the past, anyone that ive lost close to me, ive honored with some sort of model that does get game use from time to time. Its a simple way for me to look back on that person but within a good frame of mind. So, I sat around and thought, what would be fitting for Erin. I was stumped. I mean, he never got a real chance of life to even show me who he was. So, in that sense, it turned into more of how I feel about it. Then it hit me.

I really liked making the gatling style warhound weapon for a client. Ive also wanted to make a Lord of Battle for some time. Based on the epic model that is. It also worked out perfectly to how I feel and would be good when it is brought out to remind me how carless life can be sometimes. It sounds callous but I assure you its not, in fact, it helps me deal with life in general.

I didnt really plan anything out, nor could I even find the old epic model or any good pictures on the net of the Lord of Battle. So, I went by memory as best I could, with changes to where I deemed them to add theme.

Ive only worked on it for a few hours or so, and the detailing hasnt even really started as the bulk still needs to take shape. I plan to still add large pistons all around connecting up to the waist, wheels will be detailed with skulls, extra armor and a ton of rivets. Tracks on the bottem still need detailing and adding. Really a ton of small stuff. BUT its at a point I feel its "taking shape".

I know the picture is blurry, but that middle platform area on the back is a skull pit. There wil be a crew member shoveling shulls into the fire to fuel the beast. Again, this works perfectly to represent my pain.

Erins funeral is tomorrow and as such I know I wont be sleeping tonight. So, im going to work on this until its either done, I pass out, or I have to get ready for the funeral at 930am tomorrow. I know once I get this done it can give me some closure on it and when it is painted and played, in a SMALL way, its like Erin will be there, shooting away into the enemy and allies alike.

So ENOUGH rambling from me. (again sorry for the quality of the pictures, I dont feel like editing pictures tonight)

By wrecker do you mean from the VDR rules?

If so, it has a titan close combat weapon. Pictures of it in a bit.

Im working on the lower body as we speak and should have it fleshed out tonight. I also want to figure out how to do the torso, especially where the arms will connect.

Im open to any design changes from the original model so im ready to hear how lame the model was/is. For me, it brings back fond memories but even I can see it can use some minor design changes. Namely, I wont have that "waist" disk being so big.

Start of the front Khorne symbol ram. It will have "teeth" at the bottom as well as more detail on the symbol itself. Not to mention a crap ton of rivets. Various sizes.





A slightly better picture showing the "skull fire fuel pit". There will be a guy shoveling skulls into the pit as well.

Only minor work done on the superstructure, wheels and I added the 2 large pistons and the start for the 2 larger ones that will connect to the lower back torso (when its built)

I still need to add some "engine exhausts" on the wide of the walk ways and complete the front wheels. The back tracked part still needs a ton of work. Not to mention all the detail it will have..





I would like some input on the following things:

1) Should there be more large pistons, like the epic model? Or should there be a few smaller ones? Or no more?

2) Should the front Khorne ram symbol be covered in spikes in addition to the lower dozer blade like "teeth"? Or should it be bare? Or should it have bodies and such for show?

Im pretty much stuck on those 2 things right now and could relaly use the help on what would look best.

Thats all for now. Im hitting the sack as its been one hell of a long night. :(

First of, my condoleances for your loss. Losses are always hard to bear, and I feel they only get harder as we lose more people close to us.

1) I don't think it needs more pistons; the big look like they can hold the thing together, and it's a daemon engine. Plus, physics are secondary to demonic forging ability. I'm only wondering how it will turn its upper body with the back pistons.

2) I wouldn't add spikes, but a sacrificed body in the middle of the Khorne symbols or adorning it with skulls are two good options. Maybe use skulls in the 'eyeslits' of the symbol?

1) REALLY good point! Hmm, maybe they will be giant cables now since the model itself has all sorts of cabling sizes from small to huge like the pistons. Thanks for pointing that out.

2) Skulls in the eye sockets is a really good idea for the front ram.

Which head would you guys go with? The one thing to keep in mind is no matter what head is chosen, it will have a cannon in the mouth area.



Now onto a small update on the model itself. I didnt get the front wheel track/bracing completed, or really any of it glued on, but all the pieces are cut out and ready to go.









Basically, just the start of the detailing behind the main wheels area. I want to bring it more in par with the epic model. Which, btw I found, and wow, im not even close on the back area design. Oh well, I do like the skull fuel pit and the idea of a crew member (or maybe 2) appeals to me greatly. Most of the time its going to be sitting on a shelf right next to my work area, so its sorta a diorama as well.

So my questions with this post:

1) Which head? (see above)

2)Are the side exhaust vents to much? Keep in mind they will be heavily detailed to match the hatch detail at the ends.

The old bloodthirster also had the khorne symbol asd a "headdress", and I feel it would add the most to the daemonic engine feel of the model. I realize the Lord of Battle doens't have the symbol clearly, but it's in there.

2) I think the exhaust vents balance out the wheels a bit, so that's good. Maybe add a walkway on top so berserkers can jump on? Even if it's not allowed in the rules, it'll be cool .

Ah, the head dress khorne symbol. I like it but also hate it. Its wa to cartoony to me and makes the model overall feel more of a slaaneshy thing or something. I just dont see Khorne taking the time to decorate the beast like that instead of just letting it rolll off the line and kill stuff.

I had conisdered a small paltform over the exhausts. My gaming group already has a rule where models that cn be placed on super heavies can indeed be transported. If the super heavy gets shot, basically whatever shoots it, automatically hurts troops on the vehicle blocking line of site as well as hitting the tank itself. It works nicely.

I like head 1 for it - I'm not a fan of the original epic model - I'm sure you can make a much cooler one!

2 - happy with the vents - all looks good.

1) I think it's cartoony in epic, but having seen your scratchbuilds think you can pull it off. myabe use the Khorne symbol more as a mask or the face itself? It would give you a logical place to add the head cannon as well. Still, you have to build it in the end, so it's your choice . If you don't go witht he Khorne symbol (I can certainly follow your reasoning), I'd still consider a very bestial head though - or maybe a metallic bloodletter-like head?

2) If your gaming group has rules for it, what's holding you back?

Personally, I like "Custodian Head" but, if you're coing to be putting a cannon in its' mouth anyway, you might as well go with "Weapon Head," since it's made for it anyway.
