I have seen many WHFB sacrificial alters, so I figured that they should still exist in the 41st mellinium.

So I set to work making my chaos alter. Not much done so far, but here you go:


I am still adding. I think for the sides of the table I am going to cut the faces of marine helmets and glue them between the spikes.
The little bit with the cable is some sort of medical device, probably used to sustain the victim indefinantly after he has been mortally wounded, so to appease the gods or whatever.......

any thoughts?

I think it'll look great when she's painted up. You've got enough details and texture there!

It's great, looks like some unfortunate would be dumped on the star and have terrible things done to them while the squad stood around chanting.

More finished. I feel pretty sure I am going to keep the servo arm I added, but I am still pretty unsure about the control panel near it. Also the base is pretty hellish in the photo, since is the same white as the table.


Once I decide about the arm and controls, then Ill finish basing and paint!

i dig it. nice job so far man. just make sure you use different glue then any type of super glue on that faom, super glue will eat that puppy up in a snap and ruin your alter. just a heads up. anywho like i said really nice job there.

yeah, good point on the super glue. I sometimes do that on purpose, to make small craters.

I am considering hacking up and reposing a marine so he is strapped on the table, with his chest opened up and some chaos symbol in place of his heart, or something like that.

Neat piece here. I like the originality and the execution is well-done. Before you prime, make absolutely sure that you seal the whole styrofoam bit with a good bit of thinned PVA. It looks like you used the "bead board" styrofoam for this. That stuff is pants. You should try to get some pink insulation foam board next time.

As for a guy strapped to the altar, how about an Eldar or IG guy? Something the size of a Space Marine seems like it would cover up too much of the detail on the Altar top. That would be a shame.

Maybe a WHFB Elf with Eldar bits on the ground (hallowed out helmet, other armor bits) or a Necromunda guy with IG uniform bits strewn around to rep the IG sacrificial lamb?
