I've got bored of my Gundam kit, and needed to paint something detailed. So I picked out this Petro Kantor model to paint and 3 days later, here he is. As I'm short on funds, so he'll also be appearing on Ebay very shortly (Shameless plug ). He's painted in Foundation Necron Abyss, followed by a blue ink wash. Then, Midnight Blue, highlighted to Regal blue, and finally, regal blue and white mix. The red is my usual method, of Mecharite Red, brown ink, scab red, higlighted to Blazing Orange and Blood Red mix. The Base is custom made by me.

I just wanted to paint something different. I have no interest in keeping the model, when I can sell it and use the money to fund the models for my armies.
My pleasure is in taking something, making it different, and making it come alive. And I've a few more days free before I go back to work.

Thanks, but I do keep the stuff for my armies. I have an entire company of Legion of the Damned from when they first came out, and this was my first army so nowhere near as good as this. I have a Pure Thousand Sons army, Steel Legion PDF, Genestealer Cult, all painted to this standard. I see it as paying for my hobby. I enjoy painting more than gaming. Lets say this guy sells for £20. taking into account Ebay fees, I'll have made £10 profit. I can then use that money to buy something for my own army. I enjoy painting. How does an artist paint a picture, and then sell it? Once I went to a tournament, and people were drooling over this guys Ultramarines Army. When I asked the guy who painted it, he came clean and said it was from someone he'd contacted through Ebay, and commisioned him to paint it. I said yes I know, it was me. We now meet up regulary to play at GW in Nottingham.

I see it as making some pocket money (even though I'm 30 and make more for one day in work than 10 Petro Kantors), this is a Hobby I enjoy, and someone's paying me for it.

I'm back to GW today, may buy a Commander Shrike model to paint and sell me thinks.

how did you make his base or was it already like that?

The model comes with a standard 25mm slot base. I've taken a 40mm base (Terminator size) and covered it in rectangluar shaped plasticard to form a tiled floor. I've then stuck on some parts from the Ruined City, some grit, and a couple of small stones. The whole lot is sprayed black, drybrushed the Dark and then light Foundation Greys. The tiled floor and broken tiles are then painted Space Wolf Grey and Foundation Granite. The column has been painted foundation yellow, inked brown, and higlighted golden / sunburst yellow. The barbed wire is from a model shop. Base is then painted scorched brown..... and Ta Da ! ! ! !

I find that if you take a good painted mini, and add a good base, you get a stunning mini.

i wish could do that kind of basing...seems pretty hard and a lot of work...the painting looks awesome too!~!

I must say that is a vey nice Kantor. At my local GW they are having a painting competition and I certainly think your Kantor is better than that being entered, or for that matter my Warboss and Liche Priest that I entered.

It's easier to sell them when you find out how much people will pay for them...

The £20 vouchers I recieved at Christmas has now bought Pedro, Ultramarines Cronus, and Templers High Marshal. Once they are all painted and sold, there will be enough £££ to buy an Ork Starter Set for my new army. That's how I see it.
