Well, as i near completion of this army, i figured id ask the Dakka community what they think about how my Death Guard turned out.

First, the paint scheme:

Armor was sprayed black, and then based in Camo Green.
I then picked out the edges of the armor with bleached bone, along with any open wound or hold in the marine's armor.
After that, all tubes, conduits and weapons were painted codex grey.
Wounds got dabs of red gore, and pouches and bags were painted snakebite leather.
Once all of the model was painted, i dipped it in minwax floor stain. Using a power drill, i spun the extra stain off the models, and set them aside to dry.
The bases were flocked with sand, which was dry brushed codex and then fortress grey.
The edge of the bases were then painted Codex Grey, and static grass was applied in random areas of some of the bases.

Here are a few pictures of me actually dipping a model using the power drill to spin the extra stain off:

My army is based off of Nurgle's number, 7, and so i have 7 squads of 7 (not including the demons)

First, my terminator lord (using the model of Typhus):

The lord from behind:

Next, one of the lords chosen retinue:

All of my troops choices are the same, and all have 7 members:

Demons of nurgle (I am really pleased the way that the demons look, after being dipped):

A single demon:

Melta gunners from the havoc squads:

A single Melta gunner:

My rhino:

A sorcerer (who is not actually in the army list, but i really liked the model):

And lastly, the army as a whole

I still have another troop squad to finish, as well as 1 and a half havoc squads, and most of the chosen terminator retinue.

I welcome any comments or criticism.

Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.

Very Nurgly. How did you attach the miniatures to the drill?

i just cut a bit of wooden dowel and super glued it to the bottom of the base. Once it was dry, it was strong enough to keep the model attached to the drill.

Nice, good to see you finally got these pics uploaded. The tubes don't look so good on camera, but everything else is great.

Very nice. The sheen finishes the Nurglyness nicely.

lol, I did not spin the rhino. For that, i poured some dip into a container, and then rolled the rhino around in it for a while, and then dabbed off the extra dip with a paper towel.

I have to say that this is the first army I've every really liked that has been 100% dipped. Nice technique, by the way.

Looks very nice, though personally, I'd slap a dullcoat on them (I know that kind of kills part of the point behind dipping, even so, I don't like shiny models). Just my own personal opinion, though, so don't let it get to you.

That's quite an example of Nurgley badassity there. The stain looks awesomely slimey and gross. Plaguebearers are perfect. Nicely done.

... because that totally makes sense.

I second this vote. The high sheen screams "dip" not "cool nurgle slime".

I like the sheen as to me it gives off this slimey feel like theres gunk on them. (Can't really think of a better way to say that :( ) But that works beautifully for Nurgle. Love it all the way.

Instead of keeping the shininess from the dip (thanks for the dip-tip, by the way. Beats expensive "official" model dips) you should matte varnish them, then gloss varnish everything that should be shiny. It will look better.

While I find hand/paintbrush techniques more impressive, these models look great. The coating does get a bit thick on some of the models, but overall, very nice.

Looks good, but I will throw another vote in for a round of dullcoating.

It will help soften the transitions and get rid of the tradmark 'dipped' look to these models.

So if you think this looks good you have no taste? It's fine if you don't like it, but no need to flame.

Adding the dull coat and then glossing things that should be shiny would accomplish almost nothing, since they are supposed to look like they just emerged from some nasty swamp or orifice. And, there is always the danger of getting a bad batch of matte varnish, and then having a model that is covered in fog, with no way of returning it to the way it was.

I was going for the slimy look on these guys, so they are supposed to be all shiny.

I'm not sure I get anti-dipping. Who the feth cares how you get there, all that matters is the result. And this army looks good.

Do you consider airbrushing "cheating", too? I've seen people say as much. Painting = brush.

With the amount of grey plastic and bare metal I've seen, anything that's painted is a step up. This is fairly clean, and uses dip to good effect, solid tabletop work.
