Subject: THE GREAT GROT REBELLION (Pic Heavy)

Stealthy Grot Snipa

Normal people are happy to assemble and paint their army following the simple instructions provided and paint in a colour scheme of their choosing. WELL I'M NOT ONE OF THOSE NORMAL PEOPLE!
Over a year and half worth of designing, modeling and drawing my insane mind has spawned the Grot Rebellion.
The Army is fully converted and unique, its mission was to win best army which it did at Open War XI in Nottingham last April!
HQ
Grot Rebel Command!
Colonel Grotsnik by far is the best miniature in the army taking the ‘Red Gobbo’ miniatures and slapping the cap from the classic Commissar Yarrick was a stroke of pure genius. As was the rest of the army who would of thought of using guard torso and arms with goblin heads and legs would make such a fantastic miniatures!
Grot Special Weapons
For a while I thought of taking a Special Weapons squad using fanatics as bomb wielding madmen but they were soon replaced by a very famous weapon. Sadly this squad was ditched for my much more hard hitting Kommandos.

ELITES
Grot Kommandos
As I mentioned before I needed something to give me an edge against tanks and heavy armoured units enter my Kommandos deep striking in squads of 5 each with 3 Meltaguns or Plasmaguns! These units have terrorized players to no end!
The Grot Ninja
‘Grot Hopper’ was a character in the Grot Rebellion’s background comic of which I’ll upload in the art area soon, he was too cool not to be made into a miniature so he acts as an Eversor Assassins in certain campaign missions.
TROOPS
Grot Rebelz
The army originally started out as a Grot Speed Freaks army but having all those tanks with BS2 put me off so I thought what is the 2nd lowest form of life? Of course the guard! From then on all my models were to be created to look like the Guard units they represented. This group is part of a 4 Squad Infantry Platoon. I also have plans to build a 2nd Human Slave Platoon using the new Empire Flagellants miniatures.
Grot Grenadiers
By far one of the challenges of this army was to convert Grot Storm Troopers with out making them look like walking trash cans so I casted them each a heavy duty riot shield to count as their 4+ armour save.
Now we now move on into heavy tanks and vehicles lets begin with…
Little Bugger
He’s very cute and was one of the first grot miniatures I created last year but the problem is he’s more of a mascot than a unit why pay 55 points for this cardboard armoured tank when I could field another unit of Ruff Riders. He has been recently redone for a mini-game at the UK Gamesday this year and now looks awesome and decorates the miniature case at GW Lincoln.
Ruff Riderz
Technically they are vehicles in a way so lets get started. When it came to creating the Rough Riders everyone I knew screamed out Squig Riders I though that was to predictable so instead I mounted them in remote control cars but due to them breaking I had to remove the aerials from the epic wagons. Like the rest of my suicidal units they are excellent on the field and always give me at least double in their pts cost. Before 5th Edition that is.
Now that the lightweights are out the way on to the heavyweights. When working on my vehicles I had to be sure not to make them look like looted vehicles so I had to redesign the look of each of the tanks.
GAZA
It was originally going to be aircraft carrier launching Grot bombs but the long 10 side armour was too risky but the mobile GAZA (NASA) platform proved an even bigger success. Especially the slogan on the side. (Too bad about the photo’s quality though) Sadly due to new 5th edition true line of sight he's been ditched.
The Battle Bruiser
The Leman Russ was by far the hardest to convert but luckily I had a pair of shortened tracks from my attempt at a Half Track Chimera a while back, plus with the added small mounted turrets I made for the side sponsons. It’s not a bad conversion.
The Doom-Vee
This is the only tank that can’t be recognised by my opponent with one glance but after explaining that the grot manned turret at the top counts as the 2 separate heavy bolters and the metal grid windows at the side our the firing points for the Lasguns it makes sense besides what greenskin army does have its set of monster wheels.
And now for my star attractions…
The Little Grot
Ever since the beginning the thought of grots turning a Hellhound into a fast food restaurant had to be done. This truck conversion was clear in my mind I was just not sure what to name it names such as ‘KFC (Kentucky Fired Cadian)’ ‘Mek Donalds (which was already taken)’ were thought up but in the end I choose ‘Little Chef’ as it suited the army better. I just love this tank as it has so much character.
The Helicookas
Given how useless my 'Doom-vee' was i converted it into a demolisher and replaced it in the army with these. Another effective anti infranty weapon in my army that deep strikes burns out scouts and other infrantry cowering in cover. Before being thrown into combat as because of its light nature it will often go out with a large bang and kill some more enemy models.
Future Plans
When 5th Edition came out every guard player felt like they'd been shot in the foot. Baslisks, suicidal units what were some of the best units were now all useless with the latest rules. But with a guard codex coming out next year and with the rumor of more than 3 russes I plan to mechanise the Grot Rebellion this year!

It's quite easy, most of you will be able to pick out the parts that I've used except for the main body. Which is the bike part upside down that was left over from the Wartrak boxed set after making the 'Little Bugger' tank

Good stuff.
I've always preferred the more hunched over goblin torso look to the more upright guard torsos, but they look good either way, and trying to get gun holding arms on the goblins is a whole 'nother issue.
The Little Bugger looks exceptionally good, and the shields for the storm troopers really look the part.
|
Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

Here are some objective markers I've recently producted for the army.
I plan to make a large 40mm for when I redo the army with the guard codex re-release.
