Hey
This is my first post, so i thought that i would start of by asking for some advice.
I got the warhammer giant for christmas and i decided to assemble it as chaos, but i thought "hey, this isn't chaosy enough, I know what it needs, an extra arm!"
so i've given it the extra arm it so desperately needed, but what i need to know is this, should I meld the arm seamlessly into the torso, or should I attempt to sculpt another shoulder for it to sit on?
Also, which is more chaosy scales or spikes?
Also Also, do you think i should go for the empty hand shown, or one holding someone?

i would move the arm away from the left upper arm if possible, at the moment the upper left arm is sort of eclipsing the lower left arm.

What do you think if i switched the warpstone to the other left arm, that way you could see both quite easily?

could you do that, then rotate the upper left arm so that the hand is more up, that way you could see the 2 arms are doing something different and are not inthe same position.

You might want to try sculpting the arm coming out of the armpit. With good blending won't look so tacked on.

How do you think it would look if i put warpstone in bottom hand on left(which comes out of armpit), with top hand holding person, but angled upwards slightly, so you can see both?

I think it could work, maybe if you added another arm to the other side for balance?, just an idea but it might add a bit more balance to the model

No, you should't sculpt another shoulder. What Chaos god is it going to serve? If it's Khorne, then you should use spikes, and if it's Nurgle, then scales.

Scales allow you to cover the joins, so that would be my vote.

Hm...If you blended it seamlessly, as is, It would end up looking really....awkward. Not organic enough, if you get what I'm saying. It needs some kind of joint to make it look like it's an actual working arm. It will probably take some work, giving him another shoulderblade and all, but without it, it just won't look right.

Spikes are definetly more chaos-oriented, but Waaagh_Gonads is right about you being able to cover up more rough areas of your modeling with scales, so I vote for a middle road. Give him scales AND spikes.

It would've been awesome to see the Giant holding the club with both hands on one side, but it's probably too late now. Ah well.

My first thought too. It would easier this way rather than sprouting out of the waist like the branch of a tree.

Echo.

...and, scales or spikes really depends on just how you intended on doing them. Either could be excellent, or either could suck.

I drew a mock up off what I am thinking of doing, Chrysaor686 gave me the idea in his post,
if you don't think that this is a good idea then i could probably change it to both hands on one side.

That would be an improvement. I would definitely go for the extra shoulder blade as otherwise the arm can't move! Also, scales are the way forward as spikes can just look very cheap unless done extremely well.

If i may make a minor suggestion.

Dont add the arrow in eye . Due to the weird scale GW uses, the arrow will just make your giant look smaller.

I need advice,
firstly my sculpting skills aren't that good (i've only done a tiny bit on a librarian conversion) so i'm not sure whether to go for the arm or try and do a tentacle of some sort, which might not look good.

Spikes = Grimdark.
I think that the extra arm should be sprouting out of the flesh, as if it only came out recently. Think of the chaos mammoth, its suitable gribbly.

Hi,
After much deliberation and hours of arcane rituals I have devoted the soul of my giant to eternal slaughter in the name of KHORNE ,
I also attached his third arm and decided to give him a shield. Comments and Criticism welcome
