I took a 600 point warband game versus my friends Ogre Kingdoms force. This is how it turned out! (Pictures incoming, as soon as I can get them from the OK player ^^)

Table setup:
The terrain was scattered around the table. 7 wall segments, a tower, small forest and a graveyard. The table looked really nice and "realistic" with the wall segments all lining up and the tower guarding the only break in the wall. The wall ran across the OK players deployment zone with a wide open space on the right flank though in cover of a forest. The Graveyard was near my deployment zone with the tower just beyond it, just beyond that were the walls.
Special objective in the game was to control the graveyard. The player with a unit in base to base contact at the end of the game would get an extra 100 VP's!

Deployment:
I set up first deploying infront of the walls and forest totally ignoring my right flank. I deployed center to left hoping to catch him since he deployed all his ogres on his right flank. One zombie unit started in base to base contact with the graveyard, while just on the other side of it a unit of Gnoblar trappers started creeping around.
Ogre's win the roll to go first, and he does.

Turn 1 - Ogres
Ogres run up the right flank with a unit of Ironguts flanked by units of Bulls, the Butcher is in cover behind the Ironguts and successfully casts Toothcracker on a unit of Bulls. Gnoblars receive no orders. Ogre turn ends.

Turn 1 - Vampire Counts
Zombies shamble forward, angling themselves to face the oncoming ogres. Behind them the Corpse Cart trundles forward and the vampire jogs alongside it. Zombies stumble into the graveyard on VC right flank. No magic happens due to failed casts and ruthless dispelling from the ogres. VC turn ends.

Turn 2 - Ogres
Ogres lumber onwards, Butcher draws a bead on the Vampire and casts Bonecruncher. Vamprie takes one wound. Gnoblars run towards the Vampire and toss sharp stuff at it, none of it wounds. Ogre turn ends.

Turn 2 - Vampire Counts
With frightening speed the Zombies lurch 8" forward, stopping a few inches shy of the Ogres. Ogre player curses (Since now he can't Bull Charge). Zombies in the graveyard stumble back out and make a move towards the gnoblars. Vampire runs to hide behind another block of zombies to get away from the Butcher. Corpse cart moves up to shield the Vampire from the Gnoblars. IoN cast on a unit of Zombies and 7 more zombies join the unit. Futher IoN and Raise dead dispelled along with Miasma of Undeath from the Corpse Cart.

Turn 3 - Ogres
Ogres bellow their warcries and charge the zombies. Toothcracker affected Bull unit charges a unit of 30 zombies. Ironguts and bulls charge the 37 strong zombie unit, with the bulls managing to get into the zombie flank. Gnoblars take cover behind the edge of the graveyard. Butcher tries to get into a position to snipe at the Vampire. All Ogre magic dispelled this turn. Close combat is brutal, 5 zombies die vs. the Toothcracked bulls, 6 zombies in the other combat. Zombies do nothing back at them and a total of 6 more zombies are chopped up due to CR. Ogre turn ends.

Turn 3 - Vampire Counts
Zombies charge the Gnoblars by the graveyard. The Gnoblars stand and shoot, throwing their sharpest stuff at the wall of corpses. Heads fly and knees buckle as three zombies die. IoN successfully cast twice, once on each zombie unit in combat with ogres. A total of 15 zombies join the fray once again. Miasma dispelled. Close combat is, as previously, brutal. 13 zombies die vs. the Ironguts and Bulls while in the other combat 5 zombies die. 13 zombies crumble. Zombies rip a screaming Gnoblar apart, splattering his mates with guts. They find this incredibly funny, but are not about to be next. Due to outnumber the Gnoblars break and another six die as the zombies bite their ankles. The lone Gnoblar runs and keeps running, disappearing into the mist.

Turn 4 - Ogres

Seeing the wall of zombies disappear the Butcher manouvers slightly, seeing his undead adversary weave powerful spells of summoning. The Butcher is having none of it and shovels a handful of bones into his mouth, spitting blood and curses as he gestures at the Vampire and makes a crushing motion with his hand. The Vampire is lifted from the ground shrieking and with a sickening CRACK has its spine wrung like a dishtowel. The Butcher releases his spell and the vampire falls, disappearing into thin mist before hitting the ground. The ogres brutalize the zombies, though one of the hungrier Ironguts that had eaten a zombie whole in a previous turn finds that the zombie was not quite as dead as things usually get when eaten and hemorrhages as it tries to claw its way back out. Combat belongs to the ogres and dozens of zombies bite the dust.

Turn 4 - Vampire Counts
After the Vampire legged it, the magic animating the undead starts to unravel. Dozens more die to crumbling and 15 zombies remain locked in combat vs. the Toothcracked bulls and a mere 16 vs the Ironguts and bulls. The Gnoblar slaying zombie unit moves into the graveyard, drawn to the Dark magic emanating from that fell place. Close combat is decisive and the Ogres all but wipe out the zombies with a few zombies left in each combat.

Turn 5 - Ogres
Ogres finish off the flanked zombie unit, though amazingly enough the other ogre unit only manages to kill a few zombies.

Turn 5 - Vampire Counts.
Calls for end of game, Ogre player agrees.

Result: Ogre Kingdoms win - Massacre!

After action report:
That was a fun game! I made loads of mistakes, like allowing those bulls to flank me and not protecting my vampire enough. But I went away from this wiser as to what I can really do with Zombies. Another failure on my part was putting that zombie unit into the graveyard. 30 zombies did nothing but stumble over gravestones for most of the fight, though they bravely chased after the Gnoblars who dared throw stuff at their Vampire master. My problem was that my magic just wasn't getting through while the Gut Magic wreaked havoc on my vampire...I mean 10 s2 no armor save attacks...that's just nasty! My corpse cart was shut down for the entire game, which was sad.
I gave the Ogre player my most menacing glare and challenged him to a rematch. Slapping his belly and giving a deep chuckle he accepted, saying he might just be developing a taste for zombie flesh.
Oh it's on...now it's really on!

Hope you enjoyed the battle report between two polar opposite lists! I've remade my zombiefest list for the next battle and you can see it here!
Army WIP thread here.

Edited out the Corpse cart cost. Also edited out the cost for the Butcher =p

What was your plan with the zombies? I can't see how you planed to overcome the ogres in hth. You don't have anything hitty in your army except maybe the vampire and your magic is not that string that you could overcome a basic magic defense.

I would use additional necromancers for boosting the zombies and maybe use a small unit of grave guards (that you have painted as far as I saw) to make a nice flank move. Otherwise it's imo impossible to overcome ogres.

Good report, don't get me wrong. Please post more of them.

To be honest, I hadn't really planned anything!
I'd suspected that my static +4 CR would definitely help, he'd need to kill 5 per turn to just have me lose by one, and then I'll raise atleast what I lost back next turn with my IoN. I'd never faced his ogres, so I had no real clue what I'd be getting myself into.
Another thing I was doing was seeing what I could do with just zombies. Turns out I can do quite alot! Alot of the madness that I faced was due to bad moving, bad positioning and underestimating LoS on my part.

And damn do Butchers hurt! I've revised my list for our rematch and that list is already earning its bones! Read the inaugural battle report of the new list here

Remember, nothing is impossible. You just have to throw enough rotting meat at it until it drowns!
Grab your shovels, to the graveyard! *scampers off*
