How do you paint a Dark Angles Predator? I got one last year and I'm
only really getting around to it now. I've assembled and sprayed the back
door, the bottom and the sides + tracks.

Buy a pot of Dark Angels green and a big brush. Paint all the tank armor green, the weapons silver and the details whatever color they should be (red and bone most likely).

Hope that helps...

Something tells me he was looking for more info, like maybe some tank technique or highlighting and tank-blending advice...

But I don't really have any to offer myself.

Hello and welcome to Dakka.

My recommendation is this. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/225557.page Go 2/3 the way down and I post how I paint my tanks. I play darkangles as well and I use the same colors and methods used to paint the guard tanks as my DA tanks that you will see on that thread. So you can see what effect it will have.

The alternate method, which also works very well is to prime black, paint DA green over the whole tank (keeps it darker) highlight with a 50/50 mix DA green and cammo green (snot green if you can still find it) and highlight all the edges. Hit a few edges with cammo green for extra highlight. Wash entire tank with thracka green (if you want a slightly richer green or badab black if you want to give the tank a lil better shading. Or both. I recommend doing the washes on the bottom of the tank to see if you like it before doing the rest of the tank. Well those are my 2 ways. Both methods create darker tanks. If your DA scheam is lighter you might not want to use these. Also your tanks might not exactly match your marines. I like this as it separates them and gives the illusion that they are made from different metals.

Thanks, Sha1emade. I was thinking something along those lines, I just wasn't exactly sure. Do you drybrush your marines or just apply the wet paint? I drybush, it gives them a more "dark" look.

I black line my marines. Basically black primer. Paint on DA green. Highlight. Then wash with black wash or thracka green. Keeps them dark as well. Just a little cleaner. It takes more time but I personally like them better like that. Each to their own. Post a pic or two when ya have some finished. I would like to see how they are working out.

My avatar is one of them. I'll try and post some soon, but I don't know how good the pics will be. My brother took some pics, but they were super big, so They looked really crappy and all the details were grainy. If you want to see one of THOSE pics, just tell me.

Because I wanted to... I'll put the squad marking elsewhere.

Anyway, back on topic. Anybody else have any ideas? I think I'll go with sha1's idea, but if anybody has any suggestions...

OK, since that seems to be everybody's suggestion, I'll go with that.

I'll try and post some pics before posting on this thread becomes threadomancy.

Okay, I'm finally started. Here are some pics. This is the drybrushing stage, so you won't really be able to see much of the paint. The bottom of the tank is not painted yet. Also, It's really bad lighting, as I had to do this at night... Edit: In picture 2, the far side of the tank isn't drybrushed yet. In picture 3, the right side of the tank is not drybrushed.
