Hello fellow dakkadakkas,

trying to be light on my wallet I thought I could model a DeffDred myself.
It turn out I got myself in for more than one night of modeling but it is (still) fun.
Unfortunately, I did not get round to buy plasticard yet and so I stick with good
old cardboard.

What do you think?

Cheers,
Martin

I'm definitely a fan of scratch building and I think it looks great so far. Don't get discouraged!

Don't get distracted, either. There are so many great opportunities for Ork billders that they sometimes get sidetracked.

Looking great! I'm looking forward to more pictures.

Yeah, you will be surprised at how much better a simple coat of paint will make it look.

Hi

I love to see the stuff that goes into scratch building.

I built my own a little way back:

Ork stuff is great to scratch build.

Thanks for the comments. Will post more pics tonight, especially the back side and size comparison with a SM Dreadnought.

I am love with orks especially because of the opportunity for an inexperienced modeller like me to contribute to the variety on the battlefield.

Hey talltamin, your dread looks awesome! A lot more weapons on it then in the stats in the codex, right? I find it hard to keep the dread as small as the SM dread is.

Does anyone know whether the SM dread (I have the Black Reach Set one) is supposed to be much smaller than the Ork one?

Hi

A deff dread has two close combat weapons plus two other options.

My one has a big shooter, scorcher and two close combat weapons.

I also put an extra small shooter on the arm, but call it part of the big shooter.

Wow, 18 Kans? That is incredible. Is that fieldable? I thought you can only have 3x 3Kans for the heavy support slot.
