Well, after getting a decent amount of marines - two marine armies from AOBR and an old 3rd edition boxed set I found this weekend, I ended up deciding to play Scythes of the Emporer for my armies...

I haven't had any luck finding decent pics of their paint scheme, aside from drawings or army painting program screenshots.

I know the general color scheme... yellow chest and backpack, black everywhere else...for the most part.

Does anyone have any pics of SotE they could post so I can get a better visualisation of the scheme? Seeing it on a computer screenshot or drawing is one thing...seen on an actual model is comething else.

I'm afraid I made a mistake tho... in my eagerness to get the marines painted, I jumped at this paint scheme, as it has nice colors, and it generally less time consuming as opposed to say, Nova Marines or such... but after painting two tactical squads, 5 termies, two dreads, an army commander, and a model bash of Pedro Kantor, I started to realize that I like the Crimson Fists shceme alot... heh.

I still have tons of marines to paint... so who knows, maybe I'll go with Crimson fists... I might haved to do a few in that paint scheme this weekend and see how I like it.... ugh...

I still have all my old 2nd ed marines to repaint too... lots of fun to paint, no doubt.. I'm ust REAL indecisive on a color scheme..can't find one that's juuustt right... ahh the plight.

Thanks!

Somebody over on Bolter and Chainsword used to have an excellent Scythes army...can't remember who it was though.

Awsome! Thanks for all the good pics.
Looks like I was pretty close to the Termie paint job...

Once I read the fluff for this chapter, I fell in love with it! I love the "Battle Company" and "Scout company" structure.

I went at some of models with my hobby knife and gave them some battle damage... I'll post some pics.

Thanks for the images - I can't wait to get these guys done!
The Thunder Schythes are amazing!

I was impressed by the Thunder Scythes too. Makes me want to do all my Terminators with those instead of Thunder Hammers. Here is a website for them: http://www.the-scythes.com/scythes.html

EDIT: Oops, Garuss Acine already posted that. Check the gallery if you want to see really good Marines.

Scythes of the Emperor are my favorite pre-existing Marine Chapter. So I guess I should say good choice, eh? I can't wait to see some.

I would have to disagree that they're one of the easier schemes, as getting yellow to go over a mainly black figure can be quite the undertaking.

Keep going though, man. You go crimson fists, you'll be among a legion of same-minded hobbyists. At least with the Scythes, you'll be able to do something different. Not to mention that they have massive potential. Just think....Not only Thunderscythes, but friggin Chainscythes, for crying out loud! How awesome would that be?

Kind of makes all us people who do, say DA, BA, and SW feel un-original.

As it should.

Really, though. I've seen an unhealthy amount of Crimson Fist armies. Isn't it good to shake things up a bit?

I thought the yellow over black would be rough.. but oddly, it's not too bad. I generally go with a white primer, and then do all the yellow... black is the last one applied, with yellow to cover some mistakes if necessary.

I'll get some pics up.. I have two dreads from AoBR painted, and applied alot of wear and tear... and I have some of the tactical marines done, along with the Captain... I just finished a Jump Pack Chaplain, and I'm staring my "Counts as Pedro Kantor" conversion... that's the core of my army.

I'll get my digital camera back and get some pics up - i'm eager for some C+C

I guess you're right. I have seen a lot of Crimson Fists. Possibly because they're basically Ultramarines with red fists.
It's kind of funny, though. Dark Angels are the first chapter, shrouded in mystery, with all their special characters
and stuff, but not many people use them. Oh well, all the more credit for mine!
