Little condolence to how many months of not being able to sell the product worth of turnover, and having their lunch eaten by the GW Urban table of Skulls board, etc. The chain of WGF's months of feth ups/overpromising and underdelivering certainly makes allowing SWM to make a smaller than usual order far less of a generous gesture in context.

Did GW pay off WGF to feth over SWM so they could get their own (frankly fething terrible) urban board?

No, but with the way things at WGF were progressing, anyone with an internet connection (so only at home for GW people) could have had an ear to the ground regarding the new hotness and brought a product to market faster.

Not necessarily a better product, but a product nonetheless.

In the end, though, the SWM board is still cheaper and better.

Yes, but we have to ween some people off the teet first. If SWM had come to a virgin field, it might have been easier.

Wait... how much does the Urban Skull Board go for?

I doubt that would have happened, but since GW has become more of a reactive company since Chapterhouse, I wouldn't put it past them seeing the KS (and the G&G one) in production and deciding to accelerate putting their own product into the market, as it's more or less a natural extension of their existing ROB board.

This. The GW board was out for several months before the SWM one was, so I'm sure that no small amount of people who might have bought a SWM already bought a Realm of Skulls board in the interim - and most people aren't going to buy 2 or 3 different urban boards...

Does anyone know of any how-to painting videos for the tablescapes? I've seen a few blogs, but no videos.

As a side note, since I've dropped Warhammer games altogether, I'm selling my 4x8 rolling fields table. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/637078.page

If you are in the EU/UK shipping zone, and have NOT received an email from me, or Mantic, please send me a message immediately.

We're down to six remaining orders, and all of those people have been contacted. If you're not one of them, then we're missing your order.

I'm somewhat miffed that we share the longest unpatrolled border and are considered "international." But that's neither here nor there.

The thaw might come by the end of the month of March... I might be able to prime it if I get it by then.

Update #167 For backers only.

UK/EU Backers - REMAINDER STOCK FOR SALE

Mantic has remaindered stock - BUY IT NOW!

Mantic needs to clear up the space in their warehouse, and before they pick it up for demos and samples, we're giving you a chance to expand your boards. Those 8 tile sets will NOT be available in the retail wave, so this is an exclusive, limited time, limited quantity opportunity.
First come, first served. Sorry.

Limited stock means that I'll process orders in the order I receive them, and when something sells out, that's the end of it. For now, obviously. We're still aiming to have stock on the shelves this summer. In the interim....
How to buy:

Send an email to jmccoy@secretweaponminiatures.com with this subject:

YOUR NAME - Tablescapes Buy

In the body of the email, please include the description, taken from below, of what you want. I will send you a PayPal payment request. Once that clears, we'll pull the inventory for you. There is a fixed $10 per parcel shipping cost.
What do we have?!!?

SCRAP YARD 16 tile set @ 3 ($200/ea)
SCRAP YARD 4 tile Display Board set @ 8 ($80/ea)

ROLLING FIELDS 4 tile Display Board set @ 4 ($80/ea)

MIXED URBAN 8 tile expansion @ 20 ($100/ea)
MIXED URBAN 16 tile set @ 20 ($200/ea)

DAMAGED URBAN 16 tile set @ 10 ($200/ea)
DAMAGED URBAN 8 tile expansion @ 30 ($100/ea)
DAMAGED URBAN 4 tile Display Board set @ 5 ($80/ea)

CLEAN URBAN 8 tile expansion @ 30 ($100/ea)

DEADZONE 16 tile set @ 5 ($200/ea)
DEADZONE 4 tile Display Board set @ 10 ($80/ea)

FORGOTTEN CITY 8 tile expansion @ 10 ($100/ea)
FORGOTTEN CITY 4 tile Display Board set @ 5 ($80/ea)

Order now - this will move quickly!

That's the full extent of the remaindered inventory, and what isn't sold by Monday 16-March will get picked up by Mantic for demo and sample usage.

GO! GO! GO!

Wait... you don't have your TILES?!!?

If you are a backer in the EU/UK region, and you do not have your TILES please message me immediately. We do have some emergency backer stock set aside, but at this point everyone in the UK/EU should have received their tiles. Your walls are still coming.
Thank you!

I'll be back next week with an update for Adepticon - because of course we'll be there with tiles AND WALLS to show off. We will also have a VERY limited stock of 24 tile sets for sale.

Tempting. Does anyone know exactly which tile layouts you are going to get in those "expansion" bundles?

Apparently the combat company in aus still has a lot of this that they aren't allowed to sell until the kickstarter is finished.

I just ninjad a set from ebay, i think it is missing all the clips and stuff though. Hopefully we can buy them separately in the future.

Too bad it is UK/EU, I would have easily bought 1 Damaged Urban 16 tile set and a Clean Urban 8 tile expansion.

Didn't Mantic just sell off a bunch of their excess SWM stock?

I think that was to make room. Most likely for Mantic kickstarter number 3246898

You have NO idea how much me and my gaming crew have thought this same thing. The skulls just don't do it for us. We covered them up with water and made it a marsh.

I want to ask,
We are looking to get one. So if you don't mind could some GENCON veterans enlighten us?

Do we get one now, and still wait what, how long to get it?
Or take the cash to GENCON and get one at a good deal on the spot and take it home?

Not a GENCON vet, but I do own both urban boards. The packaging for the boards is large enough and heavy enough that transporting it home may be a problem. If you are local to the convention or driving to the convention with enough space in your vehicle to accommodate a box the size of a small/medium microwave, you will be fine. If you are flying, or crammed into a sardine can of a vehicle with other people, getting the boards home may be difficult.

If it helps at all.

The box has dimension of 34cm x 35cm x 32cm and with 24 tiles it weighs roughly 8kg.

So if my conversions are right then in Imperial measurements that's roughly 14in x 14in x 13in and weighs ~16lbs

So It'd get uncomfortable if you have to carry it for any length of time.

They ran out of shipping money, so had to switch to shipping when they could afford it using 'spare' cash generated from general SW sales

I don't think they've officially finished yet

Shipments from UK & AUS are done, it's just the ones shipping from the US end that are not yet done... But are nearly done from what I understand.

Does he respond to KS messages?

Canada is shipping from the US end, so it probably just hasn't shipped yet.

You can get ahold of him via the Kickstarter, but keep in mind he is at Adepticon this weekend.
