The next model off the 'I need some ££££ production line'. Beleive me, painting stuff to sell every night after work is becoming boring, so bid higher Anyways, the base I've made myself from flock, Cities of Death Parts, Razor Wire, and seeing as the Orks are the most hated foe of the Black Templars, I've impaled an Ork head onto one of the steel bar's sticking out one of the posts. Following feedback from this very forum, I've not gone for the Midnight Blue armour highlighting approach this time. The Armour is painted black, inked black, painted black, and then mixes of black / codex grey / fortress grey for the progrssive highlights. The loincloth is Foundation Tausept Ochre, washed Sepia, and then Tausept / bleached bone / white mixes for the highlights.

I like the basing, it is excellent. Also, nice highlighting on the black armor, the only place I wish there was less of it was on the helmet, the crease down the middle looks a bit too distinguished, but all and all, bangup paint job

That is an amazing model.

Its a 40mm base. I always think Character models deserve the bigger base rather than the 25mm they supply. In game terms it also means you can engage more models in base contact in CC, which is a bonus if your model is a CC specialist!

Note: I like what the OP did, I am not condemning him. The aquila actually looks good and adds to a showcase model IMO.

Seriously though, the brass eagle is there, primarily so I can legitimately place ‘Forgeworld’ in the Ebay listing and increase the hits on the auction. So many people put Forgeworld in their listing title, when the item has absolutely nothing to do with Forgeworld, and in some cases, nothing to do with GW, like the Armorcast stuff. This way my Auction title is legit, and it’s explained in the item description exactly what Forgeworld parts are used. Secondary, my own personal Space Marine Army, All my Squad Leaders and Character models, all have those small eagles on their bases, and as a complete army, I think it does look quite cool.

For me it’s just an extra little detail that just adds to the Character models, and sets your models out from the rest. Once I’ve paid off some of my debts, which will allow my monthly payments for normal stuff like Mortgages etc be more manageable, I’ll be starting my Orks. All of the Character bases will have some small Ork Glyph to personalise them in some way.

Anyway the Model is beautiful.

I love how the marine's appearance is in complete contrast to the war torn base. Looks great, I'd buy it but the Marine might feel out of place with all the strange, fleshy, flashlight toting midgets around him.

Great work! The figure and debris balance nicely in the space of a 40mm base. I think the portable background complements the pose, especially from the front.

My only question is this: If you're going to put that much love into a base, why are you using that overpriced crap that doesn't look remotely like barbed/razor wire?

That is a really nice black, and the base is extraordinary.
