I dunno...

Me and my friend Spaceduck played a game today! It was combat patrol with the aforementioned armies, Army lists were:
Necrons (Me)
Lord
Phylactery, Resurrection Orb

12 Warriors

3 Scarab Swarms

Imperial Guard (Spaceduck)
Commissar (Named Bob by me)
Power Fist, Storm Bolter

Armoured Fist Squad (10 Guardsmen)
Flamer, Veteran Sergeant, Shotgun, attached Chimera

Ratlings

Techpriest Enginseer

Unfortunately, I forgot to take army photos (BTW, all the photos were taken on Spaceduck's Mobile, please excuse any blurriness or sidewaysness)

The Mission

Annhialate with Dawn Of War Deployment
IG set up first

IG deployment, Chimera with Armoured fist squad and Commissar inside, excuse any sideways pics please!

Necron Deployment, Lord and Warriors behind a barricade

IG go first?
Let's seize the initiative!

never mind

Imperial Turn 1
The IG reinforcements, A squad of Ratlings and a stalwart Techpriest advance onto the battlefield

The Chimera trundles 6" towards the Necron Warriors, no doubt lining them up for shooting, but curiously, the Commissar orders it not to fire

Necron Turn 1
The Necron Scarabs Float onto the table and begin their advance, the Lord and his silent retinue trudge toward the chimera, a few warriors take potshots at it, but fail to scratch the paintwork

The Battlefield of Turn 1 (Scarabs out of picture ATM)
Score IG-0 Necrons-0

Imperial Turn 2
The Techpriest moves forward, the Ratlings follow him hoping to get into shooting range
The Chimera continues it's ponderous advance toward the warriors. This time it opens fire, the Hull mounted Heavy Flamer scorches two Necrons, but the Multilaser fails to do any more damage

Necron Turn 2
The burnt Necrons rise from the ashes with two succesful WBB rolls
The Necron warriors march towards the Chimera, the Scarabs sweep toward the IG table edge

The Necron Warriors open up at the Imperial tank again, with more succes as 5 glancing hits result in immobilising the tank and blasting off both of it's weapons, the Lord fails to follow their example, the Staff of Light failing to damage the crippled Tank

Pop!

Turn 2 from above
Score IG-0 Necrons-0

Imperial Turn 3
The Techpriest, angered at the mauling of the Chimera, runs toward it
The Commissar leads the Armoured Fist squad out of their ruined transport

"Out you dogs! Out to victory!"

The Armoured Fist squad fires at the Necron Warriors but fails to fell a single one!
The Ratlings manage to take a single warrior down with a long-ranged headshot

The mighty results of Imerial Firepower

Necron Turn 3
Unfortunately, the Necron hit by the Ratlings is too badly damged to return...

The Scarabs move yet closer to the Ratlings
The Warriors move to get a more clear shot at the Guardsmen...

Acquiring Targets...

They open fire, the warriors kill 5 Guardsmen and the Lord accounts for a sixth, but the Iron Will of the Commissar keeps them standing

Turn 3 from the Sky (Captured by Valykrie AAC)
Score IG-0 Necrons-0

Imperial Turn 4
Commissar Bob orders his squad to shuffle out from behind the Chimera, the Techpriest moves ever closer

The Guardsmen fire upon the Warriors, felling one with a Lasbolt
The Ratlings shoot down a Scarab Swarm

Necron Turn 4
The Felled Necron reassembles himself in style, The Scarab Swarms continue to float towards the ratlings

mmm... Ratling...

No Necron Shooting? That can only mean one thing

Bob ordered his remaining men to stand to as the Necrons piled into assault, falling silent as the tall figure of the Lord Strode confidently toward him...

The Showdown...

The Lord sturck out, wounding the Commissar, but leaving him very much alive...
The Guardsmen were clearly phased by the sudden assault and failed to even scratch the Necron Warriors, who retaliated by slaughtering two Guardsmen, leaving only Two Standing, but they somehow stayed in the fight!
Commissar Bob, roared and lashed out with his powerfist, battering away two of the Necron Lord's wounds, the Combat was a bloody Stalemate

The Guardsmen can't hold out for long!

Turn 4

Score: IG-0 Necrons-0

Imperial Turn 5

The Ratlings open fire at the Scarab Swarms, wounding one Swarm twice.

The Techpriest, vengeful for the damage done to the Chimera, heroicly charges into the mass combat.
The Necron Lord, it's ancient form enfuriated by the damage wreaked on it by the living one known as Bob, lashed out with the Staff of Light, severing the Mortal's head from his shoulders, spilling warm lifeblood everywhere

Die, mortal scum!

The Guardsmen are so shocked by the death of Bob, they fail to cause any damage to the Necrons
The Techpriest, on the other hand, crushes an mechanical body with his servo-harness
Fortunately for the remnants of the armoured fist squad, the Necrons fail to do any damage in their turn

The combat at the end of the Guard turn

Necron Turn 5
The Techpriest gapes in horror as the Necron he so assuredly slew slowly crawled to it's feet...

The Scarabs are now VERY close to the Ratlings, and assault, getting even closer.

The Ratlings crush one of the Swarms, but the other kills two of them, this is enough to cause them to flee a mighty 11" off the table.

Where'd they go?

The large combat stays at a standstill (I think we actually forgot to fight it )

Turn 5, The Guards fate is looking pretty sealed now...

Score: IG-0 Necron-2

we roll for another turn and get another turn

Imperial Turn 6
Straight into Combat
The Necron Lord mercilessly hacks down the surviving Guardsmen, the Techpriest fails to kill anything and is laid low by the mass of Necrons attacking him

Necron Turn 6
What would be the point?

The Necrons eliminate all opposition, (the tank is not destroyed, we just thought it would look cool upside down)

Turn 6 from above (The Scarabs are way off to the left)

With only a crippled tank left on the field for the IG, we call it there

Score IG-0 Kill Points Necrons-4 Kill Points

Solid Necron Victory!

Post Game Thoughts: You may find this odd, but I don't enjoy games much when it's an easy win, although my opponent was very sporting about it, all that remains is to post the MVP's and ask you what you thought of my first 'real' DakkaDakka Battle Report!

Necron MVP, for eliminating an entire unit solo, I awarded MVP to the humble Scarab Swarm

IG MVP, for Wounding the Lord and keeping his troops in the fight, MVP goes to Commissar Bob!

very good battle report! the pictures were of a good quality and the necrons won (The most important part! ) I would hope to see some more bigger battles next time?

I'm not sure if combat patrol follows the same rules as the old 40K in 40 Minutes, but are you allowed to use 3 wound models? Both the scarabs and the lord would break that I think. In armies that size, things like the lord are a tad overpowered. Maybe I'm wrong, in which case correct me.

Yes I am shame to the Imperial Guard (Emperor forgive me) and shall attempt to do better next time!
I approve of Commissar Bob (the name) sorry about the model ( Yes I know it was Yarric ) but i am going to get a proper Commissar when i get some money.

Over all I congratulate my opponent (P4NC4K3) and no the tank was already broken. Is anybody sure of the Combat Patrol rules please check the game was totally legal!

Poor bob We knew him well :(.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

life.

one imperial guard tip. when facing necrons in combat patrol, forget about armored fists, rattling, and the techpriest (with only 1 vehicle - excepting a bassie - he is pointless)

grab a command platoon command squad under a junior officer, possibly with 1 -2 special weapons, and then take platoons naked (including command squads - well, except for everyones las-guns) until you run out of points. enough men = enough las-bullets to kill something.

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

I'm sure that the IG player is just starting out, but that truly seems like the worst combination of units to take in a small game. It seemed all in fun though, so no worries. The only suggestion I have is to make sure that you get the mold lines off the guardsmen, they really take away from otherwise well made and painted models.

I dunno...

Spaceduck isn't that new a Guard player, maybe he did what he did because his Orks have corrupted him...

I also have to agree on the necron models! It's nice to see that some people don't skimp out with the spray + drybrush technique I find everywhere...
Two step painting, for shame...

Anyways, IG in CP need a full platoon or Armored fist with Sentinel spam (multi-lasers EVERYWHERE!!)

I like the sheme on the 'crons, especially the scarabs.
And what was the deal with the chimera rumbling towards those warriors?
