Hey guys im still quite new to dakka so please bare with me if im slow to update this. Ive always been a huge fan of 'Nids and have two older armies completed. Some time last year I decided i wanted to do a new army but with a diffrence to my usual aproach. Instead of going out and buying the biggest killiest bugs i could find and cobbeling them all together into a big random horde I decided to theme my army so to speak and hopefully do alot of converting along the way. And so My 3rd generation of nids was born. I started by drawing up a few sketches of winged beasties and then went to work building them...and then i just stopped(probably out of laziness). Well anyway ive decided to finnish them and share my work with you along the way. Im hoping to create a mostly winged fast moving swarm but I also hav a few ideas for some creepy vanguard monsters. I guess i want my army to be summat spooky like out of a sci-fi horror show with lots of gore and slime and now im just rambling.

So here are a few pics of what i have already please feel free to comment on anything

Are the models in the first two pics objective markers? if so, they look really cool. so does the warrior. i'm not too sure on the carnifex though.

I should have specified what they were i guess The first two models are biovores, i wanted to give them a sort of entrenched look. The big beastie is actualy a converted flyrant

I like the paint scheme, and the army has a cool ideabehind it. The only problem I have is that while the wings have a good idea behind them, I just don't care for it. Everything else is good, just maybe make some new wings or something.

Well i think im gona stick with fly wings as its a big part of the theme, if do anything to them it will just be to make the wings a bit more detailed but they will be of the same design. Ive built up a carnifex and a bunch of gaunts, il post pics of the fex below im still in the process of painting it. After that im planning to convert a few stealers and ive posted a concept sketch of him below, comments are welcome as usual

the fex with wings slightly reminds me of the bugs from Blue Gender, well with that note out of the way i have to say very impressive can't wait to see more

Well i have decided to use blloodletters as the base for my stealer conversion. I really like their poses they look as if they are stalking their prey and thats exactly how i want my stealers to look

Hello all Ive completed the carnifex that is posted above and the updated pix of him are posted below More importantly Ive built 6 genestealers and id like your opinions on them before i paint them up. I feel that theyd need something more but ill let you decide. Please take a look and comment on anything, suggestions on how to improve them would be great

The deamons look good, but they need something more... maybe add some stealer rending claws to some of them? Or use the spikey bits from a gaunt sprue to add back armour.

I like where you are going with this. Its a very cool idea.

I'd say at the very least you need a second set of arms. Its almost the very definition of a genestealer. Try and find a way to incorporate a second set of arms, either coming off the first set or simulate a second set of shoulders.

Also, you might want to do some work on the hand that was holding the sword. It looks a little strange being curled into a fist like it is.

Every tyranid player i know has spare scy tals.
Maybe use them for the 2nd set of arms?

theres no carpace!!!

I like bug wings - but for nids I'd say they need to look more substantial, less delicate.

The fly tyrant ? ( carnifex ) has a really
insect feel to it .

The carnifex looks really buff too, making it look
actually intimidating.

Genestealer is very cool too, reminds me of the
guys from Resident Evil 1 ( the one that can craw walls)

ya the guys from resident evil wetre my main inspiration. As for second arms its proving difficult to mount more arms onto the bodies. The poses of the letters dont leave much space for them but im workin awy on it dont worry

Ok so a small update, no pics sorry, iv added sything talons to the cirled up fists on the genestealers and their primed and waiting to be painted. Ive also decide i want to have a go at a trygon as my armies centre piece. Ive begun modeling the head so will get pics up as soon as possible ive decided to convert a buch of flying guants to run with the bugs theme. And las but not least ive decided i want to do something different for hormaguants, something buggy maybe like starship troopers. I need help with that one so if anyone has any inspiration for me ill gladly repay you with wip pics of my trygon

i think maybe warrior rending claws (or the ones from the broodlord blister) would be pretty badass for the genestealers...
maybe those then the bloodletter arms under them?
also, more carapace-ey is a must...

other than that, sweet concept, the models look cool

Anyway, nice work, I like how your stealers are looking, and agree that they need some armour or weapons or something.

Okay so the stealers are nearly done so in the mean time i said id post some pics of my trygon head. I was tinkering with the idea of mounting a carnifex back plate on top it makes it look a bit like the red terror. Well anyways heres what ive got so far please tell me what ye think

Well its simple really. All you do is take the two halves of the tusked carnifex head and remove the lower jaw. Next widen the head a bit by glueing plastic spacers in between the two halves. For the lower jaw take your two pieces and glue a bar between the two of them at the back. Glue the top and bottom back together with a vertical rod at the back to give it some height and fill everything in wit GS
