This is my attempt at repainting all my armour in anticipation of the new codex. Inspiration has come from Shep and his awesome snow based Vostroyans. I'm hoping to get all these tanks finished one at a time, so here's my first before and after.

This will be a rolling thread, with updates added when work is done. Please do criticise, but be constructive. I'm not trying to win any prizes, I just want to get my tanks painted and looking uniform!

First candidate badly in need of paint, my basilisk...

I had simply sprayed this with dark angels green and splodged some goblin green on it BITD

Here's a quick transformation with a spray of chaos black, and then codex grey with shadow grey added on.

Looking good! Now pick out some of that detail on the metal bits and it will look great!

good start, the two-tone grey sections look nice. Now the cannon and some detail-work need some lovin', and you're set!

PS, am I the only person who likes the gun shield on Basilisks?

I had built and painted that Basilisk when I was 14, all those years of gaming weren't too kind on it and its gun shield got busted!

Here it is finished

Up next to work on is my exterminator with added baggage and armour. I really shouldn't have painted all those white bits on it, but soon they will be gone. The tracks are already painted and left seperate (forward planning, now if I can only find out where I left them!!)

You don't like the white? I think it adds a nice contrast to the paint, which is the idea of camo really.

Here's a quick WIP. Plus good news, I found the tank tracks! So they'll be glued on once the tank is fully painted. I've never enjoyed painting tanks so much, two tanks in two days is a new record for me!

I like it. It manages to be practical but have a touch of 'alien landscape' to the camo scheme.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

You stole my .22 shell idea! Argh!!!

So did you spray or brush paint? If sprayed did you remove the treads-and how without major damage? I'm actually thinking of converting from a winter pattern to similar grey pattern-hence the query.

The exterminator is finished!!! It only needs a tiny touch of red and some black, and then its complete!! The tracks are glued on now and drying overnight, photo's in the morning!!

I've been using a tank brush. (you can see it in the last two photo's, beside my set of fake teeth) Its a big momma of a thing, but it holds the paint well for heavy drybrushing.

As for .22 shells, they're from my friend who goes rabbit shooting! I've told him that I need more of them, so I have to go up the hills with him and use the lamp. I think they work best unpainted, but I know that the copper will start to rust and disintegrate.

Thanks for the positive comments!! Can I paint a third tank in a day?? probably not! Photos to come tomorrow!

The paint job looks ace mate.
Though for your exterminator, i'll give you an early heads up, the new rules are 4 shots with rerolls. That's because it will now be sporting four autocannons in the turret. A line drawing of this in the 5th addition main rule book in the guard section. it will be coming out in plastic, currently modifying mine. i thought i let ya know so you get one up on you competitors.

Well yes and no,
The four shots with rerolls is confirmed as i was lucky enough to get a copy of the new IG codex reference page before it was pulled of the games workshop website, and since they can't change the rate of fire for autocannons (as it would effect the new space marine codex) and all the other fairly circumstantial evidence i'd say it is a pretty safe bet.

Here's my exterminator. Just the sandbags and ammo pouches left to paint, but I'm happy with the overall result. I don't think i'm going to convert the guns just yet, its safer to see if I have to or not, but thanks for the heads up!

Now for my next tank ( I might take two days over this one and make it beautiful!) is my forgeworld vanquisher. This tank definately deserves some TLC. Plus the new rules for it are meant to be stinking awesome and I wont have to add two autocannons to it!!

Here it is before the repaint...

Good news!! The vanquisher is painted!! Bad news...you wont be able to see the photo of it tomorrow. When the sun is up and shining I shall take a photo.

Its so satisfying to paint three tanks in three days. I know its only repaints, but out of the seven tanks that have been staring at me for weeks, begging me to paint them, it feels so great to have half of them painted!!

Pictures tomorrow, now I sleep my tired eyes.

Competed vanquisher pics!! Three tanks in three days is an absolute record for me. All thats left to do is some details on the commissars!

My next tank which will not be finished in one day is my conquorer, with custom hatch! can anyone guess where its from?
