One of my first miniatures for about 7 years. Still not totally au-fait with the new paints and washes yet but i'm pretty pleased so far Still need to do a bit of work on the left hand, the bits of the gun modelled onto his arms and the tabard. Excuse the crappy picture quality, must remember to get some batteries for my proper camera. Stuck with my mobile for the mo...

C&C welcome!

The blue on the head makes him look a lot like a tau warrior. It's an incredibly interesting scheme, especially with the purple. I think the head and purple could use some sort of very dark shaded ink or wash to make him a bit more ghastly... That is, if that's the sort of thing you're looking for. As is he looks like decorated veteran with a coloured history and brand new armour. That's not a criticism either. It's the 'fluff' behind the model that came to my mind first. Excellent highlighting on EVERYTHING too, by the way.

S'funny, It must be over 10 years old by now and still one of the best available imho. As ever, it looks alot better to the naked eye. I totally forgot how unforgiving cameras can be, especially when they are crappy-phone-based ones.

The blue on the head and the purple on the armour are both waaaaay darker than the picture makes them appear. I guess that's 40w bulbs and flashes for you :(

I always feel a bit iffy doing any weathered type effects on my Eldar. We are meant to be bright and shinily polished! Plus, with the fluff saying that whenever they fall in battle another Exarch simply dons the armour and gets on with the job, i'm guessing that there'd probably be a fair few lascannon holes in the thing by now.

Decided to do the base of the gun gold and get it stuck in place...

Awesome job on the Farseer, very nice blending. Eldar painting requires more patience and attention to detail than I have anymore.

That is fantastic blending, and the color scheme is really nice. the bone is amazing.

I really like the checker on the Harlequin's cloak. How did you do that, and how long did it take?

Wah! I like dis beef too much!

Thanks for the comments!

The checks were done pretty much as described on the GW site (painting diamonds). Undercoat the whole thing white, then v.carefully draw lines with chaos black firstly going down to the left, then down to the right. That bit took about 15 mins, filling in and highlighting each diamond took about an hour total. Mainly because i was trying to make sure that no two adjacent diamonds were the same colour, think i only missed 1 spot. After highlighting, i went back over the lines in black again.

Beautiful work J.Black! I did my reapers in a dark purple and deep red scheme that makes them distinct from Warp Spiders. This Maugan Ra would fit in nicely there, blue head and all.

As a point of contrast, the head functions very nicely against the more yellow bone and bronzey-gold gun and definitely draws the eye, but it might do so too well in the above pics.

If the flash and quality of the camera are to blame for any changes, I'd love to see pics of these taken with a good camera! I like the orange, purple, white, and blue of the farseer - it's a nice balance of warm and cool tones, blended very cleanly. Excellent work!

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
