These are my original Necrons, painted about 3 years ago, give or take. Note that I have more models that have either not been painted or are not completed otherwise. For instance, I have 2 more destroyers than that are shown, 10 more warriors, a Necron lord that is painted, but missing the arm because I cannot for the life of me get it to stay while it is drying, or it just falls off after a bit. Finally, my destroyer-lord is not in these pictures. I would love feedback and opinions on the paint job, and ideas for improvement.
Note: If they seem dusty, they are. I had not dusted them off in at least a year or more, and the camera picked up on more dust that expected hehe.

I like the warriors, they're a bit fuzzy though. Get them into a fight. And great scott man! did you use primer on that Monolith?

But why are some parts of the warriors gold

Agreed and I dont much care for the Monolith.

I don't care much for the Monolith, it looks much to bright and contrasts your infantry to much; though your infantry looks amazing.

personally, i like the paintjob on the monolith, i think it looks gr8

Like I said, dust hehe. But thanks for the comments! And about the monolith, I did not use primer on it because I did not happen to have a can of primer at the time (be honest with yourself; do you really think that you would have the patience to paint the whole thing black? That patience ran out with the priming of a whole necron battleforce.

Must have been the way the flash hit them, because the warriors have no gold on them.

looks alright mate i have a necron army and they are blue in process of painting monolith atm, how long did it take you to paint your monolith, as it seems it will take forever for me

A long time? From what I remember, putting the thing together took awhile and as to painting it, getting the whole thing green took a good chunk of time, along with highlighting the edges with goblin green. I want to say in total it took about 4 days of assembling, painting, letting the paint dry, adding more layers etc.

I think a monolith can take about 2 to 4 hours maybe. It is easier to assemble then most of the big stuff. Most of my time was spent filling the gaps with a modeling putty.

I used an airbrush to base coat my monolith but there is no reason you couldn't use a can of spray (green or other). Followed by a couple layers of drybrushing with a makeup brush.

Back to the necrons. The troops look good. I think the gold is coming from a brownish was on them. It tints the silver color.

i have so far, assembled my mono, painted the front bit (the necron head part) the flux arcs and the power matric, all there is left to do is the armour plates... the longest part... thinking of doing the edges regal blue, highlighting the edges enchanted blue and little white highlights, sorta like the one in the codex but blue, seems like its gonna take forever... :( but again mate, very nicely done! Hopefully i can return the favour one day and show you my necrons

I would love to see how they turn out, especially the Monolith.

i will look forward to posting them, just the monolith left and a few bases left to paint... on 6 scarab swarms and the wraiths base

I like the dust. Goes along with the whole *heydude,ivebeensittingaroundmahtombforthelastsixmillionyearsandonlynowhavecomeoffmylazyasstofreeemyou* kinda feeling...

Some I like... some I dont like. The monolith, seriously you should prim with spray paint and then start over. Youll thank me later when its done.
The warriors look really good tho. I like that strange oil/residue stuff on them. Nice touch there

hey again, dont mean to hijack the thread but have started to paint the monolith, front part is almost done, and 2 other sides are half done n the other side has nothing done, but from the front i am really liking the look, wont be long now m8
